What do you do with your birds over the Winter , put them on lock down , or let them fly out ? i have most of ours locked in . a few latebreds were going out up until 2 weeks ago , the whites go out as often as we can :animatedpigeons:

Late breds out as often as poss but all old birds on lock down , used to have Chanel birds on open hole but due to next doors cat finding it's way onto 15 ft high Sputnik have just locked them in until it finds somewhere else to play . :emoticon-0127-lipssealed:

Late breds out as often as possible race birds out once a week for a bath we stand guard watching them but to be honest they huvnae been hit at the loft all winter

Cocks one day Hens the next weather and wind permitting. Bath whenever they want as its always filled [rain water]. Will not be out again now until round of young taken April / May pending house move.

All on lock down from September until middle of March, not ideal but at least they are safe from b.o.p.

same as you,all birds stay in after last young bird race and has worked for us all the time

I like them to get out when weather ok ,have them shut in for a few weeks now got a bird hawked last week had to dispose of it still a bit sick about it realy .

Unfortunately for me in the winter I only see the doos really in the dark :( Except a Sunday so if the weather is ok I'll stick the cocks oot or the hens but your lucky if they get out twice over the winter each

All birds out every single day

 

Seems we agree again Walter. Though today I left them in the aviary. Winds strong, and only Ferals having the odd circles. Nothing else being blown about.

Kept them in through the moult but they have been out daily since the 1st Dec.The cocks flying about 30 mins the hens about 45,I'll keep this up until I pair them then they stay in until they lay.

Don't really think what you do during the winter months matters a .*expletive removed* have done both locked up and had them on open loft over the years :) .

 

One thing is for sure if you don't put in the work at the turn of the year you will be fckd. :emoticon-0136-giggle: .
