In Canada most vaccine 3 TIMES now in first 3 months tops. Starting off in the nest!

Asked my mate, who usually does mine, an ex flyer, to do the same and he refrained. Said too small / young.

ALL mine will be getting a booster soon as moult is over. I normally do all after the last race. Gordon Chambers wrote to me a while back stating - among other things - First sign of any trouble vac again with Parramixo. Also said spray with Parazone most days. I used to use Virkon S Plus. But now use Actichlor Plus.

Trouble is each year with incest breeding the constitutions are getting less, worse. Of course homing ability is another side effect.

i might be totally wrong but ive been thinking there is a problem with nobilis vacine since it first came on the market the plan was all my birds getting done next month but was waiting to see if columbovac would be back on the market anytime soon as i promissed my pal jim i would do his small team at the same time as thats all a novice needs when he is just starting out think ill just have to do the old birds stockbirds and jims latebreds with nobilis asap but after a week it seems only the one section has been affected and not all of them at that but it would have to be the birds id put bye for the future 20 latebreds in the next section totally un affected and looking great so far but with this scurge that can all change very quickly ive seen this all before but not as bad as this might be damage limitation as i know some will get so bad ill have to put the black cap on only the strongest youngbirds will come through this and another hard lesson watch what comes back after being away a while but this is something they should not come back with if they have been vacinated and another reason i dont trust the nobilis vacine but maybe the bird was not vacinated properly so have to give it the benifit of the dout

Walter,I had to use Nobi.Vac. this year for my y/birds and wasn't very happy with it.When I jabbed my mates it was difficult to inject,my own were a little easier using the same bottle but I got the "grease" mark on their necks putting a doubt in my mind wether it had injected properly.Hope you get sorted.atb.

Walter, personally I don't know how you can say it is PMV without having the birds tested. Other viral and bacterial diseases mimic the symptoms. Anything like that in my loft, and I'd be calling in a vet.

Nobilis is an oil-based vaccine. Oil when refrigerated thickens, and you need to give it time out of the fridge before using it. Also, you need to use the correct needles that come with it - they are 'wider' than Nobilis ones. Either of these might be reason you thought it was more difficult to inject.

Bad news Walter, hope its sorted fast mate,my birds had it in the early 80's,most went into the bin.Didn't know what it was at the time.Don't like nobilis but we have no other option.

Bad luck mate.

You should have taken body of the mealy to a vet for tests

Best of luck with it

waste of time and money steven they havent got a clue know this from the past i will sort this myself as ive seen it more times than most vets and i already know what they have its paramixo virus but this time im better prepaired for it but its no less hard work and scary trying to contain it m8 they have been on amoxycillin mixed with metronidazol for 6 days now plus i vacinated again i put five down that had it full blown as i know im wasting my time with them and i do see a wee improvement today but trying to keep the floor clean is a nightmare using garden lime at the moment to try and keep it dry but as i said i know from the past its damage limitation thank goodness i reared another wee team of latebreds as they might be all the yearlings i have for racing next year but just have to get on with it ill keep you posted guys

never thought it more difficult to inject ian thought birds were taking a reaction to it in the past more so than columbovac and i follow the instrucktions to the letter with all vacines i even wrote to them when it first came on the market telling them i had noticed the birds went back for a few days after vacination they never even came back to me and ask all the guys who have sent birds to be tested there all told they samething its parramixo and a bacteriel infection or a mix of this virus and that virus its bull s t never do they say give them this and it will cure it if they knew what it was they could tell us how to cure it and be worth a fortune but they cant even tell us how to prevent it never mind cure it dont get me started on vets and testing ive enough on my plate just now ian lol i will sort it

Hope you don't have it walter

If it is in the loft you know as well as me no stopping it spreads so easy

On feet clothes hands

Vaccination if they have it is no good as it takes 30 days to kick in

I was told by a top belgium vet to emergency vaccinate everybird in the loft when i had a problem a few years back.i thought it was pmv but had blood teats done and it turned out to be septicemia (blood disease) not pmv........the lab also picked up that i had emergency vacinated them before sending the sample....

I have a friend who had this starting about 3 weeks ago. He thought it started with a late returning youngster. He lost several unvaccinated birds but had the vaccine in the fridge. He took veterinary advice and vaccinated them every week.

His loft is clear now but he went through a bad time dreading entering the loft each day.

If you get an oily/grease mark they need to be done again, as you know the dosage is small so any leakage will diminish the protection, I always use Nobilis for this reason, I hold the bird and my wife vaccinates being an ex-nurse, She takes ages to get it right and it bores me with the time taken, I always check next day and any with an oily mark will be done again, this is the only time I will use the opened bottle again, which would have been in the 'fridge overnight

About 4 years ago had a problem with the y/birds I can only blame myself as I forgot to vaccinate 1 young bird yes 1, it cost me dearly I ended up disposing of 23 birds went through them like a dose of salts, never knew what it was nor did the vet as he gave me batril ,birds dying in my hands looking at me from some funny positions on the floor never seen it before until I seen one on pmv hope I never ever come over it again as I would get rid of the lot,my Christmas Day that year was spent jagging all the birds again it was sole destroying watching what was happening in front of me

I am sure that the Chevita vaccine is not approved in the UK (and therefore should not be used...!)
