Kyleakin Lofts Posted December 24, 2015 Report Posted December 24, 2015 Planning for early February, but who knows, it may not happen. Could be a loft full of late-breds this year again, if I don't finish the new loft in time.
Wiley Posted December 24, 2015 Report Posted December 24, 2015 Racers 2 days time, stock after blackpool
big blue bar Posted December 24, 2015 Report Posted December 24, 2015 put 5 pair stock together today / widows next week and leaving 4 pair off latebreds to get on with it
walterboswell59 Posted December 25, 2015 Report Posted December 25, 2015 may pair the stock birds in a week or two national birds mid march and thinking of not pairing the yearlings to late in the year this time i will have one stock loft with 10 pair of 2yrold and yearling latebreds all bred from my two best racers jamie boy and wee jenna when paired together or when paired to there sire or dam as these two birds have scored 8 times in the national between them i intend to fill the loft with this line inbred and line bred and see how it goes as they were all bred with this in mined and have always thought this was the way forward once you have found your best birds looking forward to see what they produce

bibendium Posted December 26, 2015 Report Posted December 26, 2015 Paired 17 Stock pairs 17th Dec , Racing team 26 pairs 20th Dec.for 1 round only.will split again for roundbout then depending on progress or not might pair up some for longer races.
gladiator lofts Posted December 27, 2015 Report Posted December 27, 2015 Depends on what you want to achieve racing and what distance races you are going for also whether or not you breed from race birds if you want to compete at equal level with darkness fliers then you pair early and put y/b on darkness system if you are more long distance then around feb 21st is good time and raise y/b natural I have tried both systems with great success but am not that keen on yearlings following year I feel they are not up to par with yearling naturals although they will win I feel that the y/b s that have been stopped as we all do are better birds as yearlings so what is point of putting them on dark if we are going to stop them half way through season ? if we all bred later the birds would still be able to compete in later races dom McCoy
geordie1234 Posted December 27, 2015 Report Posted December 27, 2015 Was going to put my 8 pair of stock together today bt I've been hit with the flu...
Kyleakin Lofts Posted December 27, 2015 Report Posted December 27, 2015 Was going to put my 8 pair of stock together today bt I've been hit with the flu... Geordie, you need to learn how to duck and dive. Improve the old footwork and you'll not get hit. :D
geordie1234 Posted December 27, 2015 Report Posted December 27, 2015 Got my *expletive removed* out of bed and got the racers together and stock
peter pandy Posted December 28, 2015 Report Posted December 28, 2015 Why anybody should want to pair up at this time of year is beyond me.
dal2 Posted December 28, 2015 Report Posted December 28, 2015 Why anybody should want to pair up at this time of year is beyond me.Its bang on for one loft race entries? Folk like mature younguns to race with in good feather? folk like to get the breeding out the way cos it suits racing widowhood?.....loads of reasons Peter
