yeboah Posted January 10, 2017 Report Posted January 10, 2017 With the 2017 season to look forward to Any loft changes New stock Systems Goals ? Myself , been making loft changes to accommodate hens on widowhood rather than celibateHoused racing celibate cocks in stock loft , more room heat etc New blood from one of the norths finest which I'm sure will make a fine cross Still got jobs to finish for friends then put retractable dowel partition system in loft with celibate cocks to allow easy handling also trapping / exercise door or similar once I've came up with best ideaGoals , definitely be entering more birds at channel races with the hope of achieving some good results or memorable moments Good Luck to All
geordie1234 Posted January 10, 2017 Report Posted January 10, 2017 (edited) New Stock: I purchased 2 grandchildren from Luc Van Mechelens pair Adriano x New Robina.... hopefully be mature enough to pair up February... Also picked up some top national blood recently too Systems: Will be trying to race split the whole programme Goals: Well I moan about not doing good enough at the snfc races bt don't sent to enough.... So this season I will be concentrating solely on the snfc races... Changes: Well this is a biggy I'm moving compounds to one closer to my house so going to try and break my full old bird team...as you can see I have my work cut out. Still undecided if I'll be doing darkness ybs this season either... I only went to 4 races last season its a lot of work for 4 races Edited January 10, 2017 by geordie1234
ALF Posted January 10, 2017 Report Posted January 10, 2017 1 goal and that is to improve on last season
Froog Posted January 10, 2017 Report Posted January 10, 2017 Racing YB,in partnership with steve, but in loft 2 this year......Cant wait till July...
William Reid Posted January 10, 2017 Report Posted January 10, 2017 Never made as many changes as I have over the last couple of months .Just need to hope dava and Frank 123 kick my ass this year .
Kyleakin Lofts Posted January 11, 2017 Report Posted January 11, 2017 Pigeons in the new loft this year, so hoping for a better season. They are not all broke out yet, so that is still in the balance. Even though it is only next to their old "loft, garden hut" I lost some when trying to break them already. Stubborn ... , wouldn't come in and fell to predators. Hopefully get organised during season 2017 and will be able to have a proper go from 2018.
paddymac Posted January 11, 2017 Report Posted January 11, 2017 Changing the front of my Yb loft to include ETS trapping system and PVC cladding.
eastcoaster Posted January 11, 2017 Report Posted January 11, 2017 Used to keep lofts spotlessly clean but still fell foul to a severe virus costing me most of my yearlings and most of the nationals , so no cleaning every week and not pairing racers until mid season .If they stay healthy they will be there or thereabouts come the big races .
Dmurray Posted January 11, 2017 Report Posted January 11, 2017 This year my main goal is to try the longest snfc race it is the only national I have failed to time in at some hopefully this is the year
lanarkshire lad Posted January 11, 2017 Report Posted January 11, 2017 I had hoped to go on the roundabout system this year but it's not going to happen so it's back on the old shambles system lol (natural or the nest game as the Belgians call it) by the way the best long distance fancier in Europe at the moment jelle jellema races natural so I've no excuses .
philg50 Posted January 11, 2017 Report Posted January 11, 2017 Not breeding a lot buying in some youngsters, rearing single young off race team ,racing widow hood cocks with a difference ,better organised ,and trying harder .
kingbilly 1 Posted January 11, 2017 Report Posted January 11, 2017 Started from scratch 2 years ago to a new location stopped the yearlings at 300ml so I have 2 years Olds and yearlings this year so hopefully get to some big race's this year just pout a new yb loft up so my racers have never been pout into any other loft where they have raced as young birds I will c if it makes any difference on there results big advantage I have noticed already is no fighting trying to move yearlings in with old birds
hotrod Posted January 11, 2017 Report Posted January 11, 2017 Started from scratch 2 years ago to a new location stopped the yearlings at 300ml so I have 2 years Olds and yearlings this year so hopefully get to some big race's this year just pout a new yb loft up so my racers have never been pout into any other loft where they have raced as young birds I will c if it makes any difference on there results big advantage I have noticed already is no fighting trying to move yearlings in with old birdsTam I'm sure Peter van den eijnden kept the birds in the loft they raced as young birds .think he had about 7/8 lofts . Think it worked for him .
big blue bar Posted January 11, 2017 Report Posted January 11, 2017 Changes. Only change this year is different set up in the widow loft, giving them daylight instead of shutting them in the dark.Goals . Try to compete in all the SNFC races but I doubt if i'll manage with a small team and all the obsticles that is in front off them, and improve on y/birds results ,never entered ybird nat hopfully this year
ovy1255 Posted January 11, 2017 Report Posted January 11, 2017 Well will have to add new dropboard to oldbird loft asit dropped off ,had a stay in so it lasted till end of 2016 but took stay out and it fell off.Just looking to enjoy the birds and love to see the youngbirds as they mature.
