I totally agree with flexibility and my wording of making a name for yourself has been taken out of context, AGAIN lol. Im saying, flexibility is definitely the key to success, BUT, we all must play the game with each other instead of pulling in different directions. The mentality of the pigeon sport is f kin appalling , oneupmanship ruling the way, with folk laughing up their sleeves at feds getting hammered as long as they are ok. Absolutely disgusting behaviour fae f kin adults imo.My original post states that if the only option to race this week is during the week, EVERYBODY SHOULD GO, not just a couple of feds.

Plenty of time for longer races in September. Usually is a Indian summer.

 

Also many today have E.t. clocking so not problem if working. Sadly gone are days when neighbours or their kid etc. would stand in.

But you know - to the vast detriment to the sport - many over the last 30 - 40 years have bleated regards having long races for youngsters.

Yes mainly because they wanted to keep their' birds back for the next season or two etc.

 

Which meant - besides other things- their' lofts filled up with pigeons not deserving to be there. Yes, getting nest boxes for more of the same, or worse! Then over breeding to make up for the loses. putting the blame on any and everything bar the truth.

 

Blame the fanciers.

 

No of course not throw away willy nilly … but if healthy and conditioned they should be given the chance to prove their' metal, the merit and capabilities.

saves money and wasting time.

But of course along with other detrimental happening permanently in use, it is ruining the very essences of the homing ability we all - supposedly - require as to a 'Win'! Any safe win will do eh!

100% agree Del. They cannae agree at club level, so what chance do you have. Anyone laughing at others misfortune, are more needing to be pitied than encouraged. Wishing you good returns and results whenever you race. AW THE BEST.

Understood chris,my point was a race is better than none and even a toss if possible this week for those who have not yet started would be prefferable (given that only 31 members out of 102sent to first race),

That would then give us the chance of continuing the programme (weather permitting) as normal.

Having done the job myself i know that it would be a risk and a thankless task if weather once again screws it up but worth considering

 

P.s. If we are ever really really really desperate how you at babysitting

Iv been to the Blackpool show on numerous occasions with Bluetooner so Im Brilliant at Baby sitting but im not cheap !

Racing at this time of year is sheer madness.

Nature dictates that there should be plenty of food for the young of any species, so they breed to ensure their young will be around t this time. Peregrines and other BOP are part of nature and they have adapted to fledge their young when food is bountiful. Racing young pigeons to give them an education of what? That they are top of the menu.

Mick Currie stated that there were peregrine nests every 10 miles in his area. Bad enough when the old birds are being attacked every 10 miles, but our young birds are being attacked every 10 miles by at least 3 times the amount of peregrines and often more.

If we keep doing the same thing, we will keep getting the same results. Breed later and race young birds over shorter distances during October and November and educate them without the volume of peril that there is during late July and August. These months are usually quite fair given the current climate and climate change.

Glad I never bumped into them training but we trained Lauder with local pigeon transporter and went ok for us too aye

 

Time did central lib? I watched to see Dundee and Angus were away at 8
