one of the biggest problems is pigeon racing is not classed as a sport its a pastime end off if it was reconised as a sport it would be ruled properly there would be no stopping people from racing because their face dosent fit every single person would be able to participate and join a club without hinderance so as soon as people realise this the better enjoy your hobby

Call it a hobby, pastime or sport, if your face don't fit that's it. Calling it a sport will not affect the ability for a person to join or be denied membership of an individual club. The hindrance of someone seeking membership to a club is down to the club members, and nothing to do with the fact that we're not a sport.

MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION. From what I can gather on this point, all Unions are the same, I stand to be corrected.

On voting on a new membership application, the club has 'carte blanche' on the outcome. The applicant has no recourse. Should the application be rejected, could it not be a future policy that the club has to provide, to the immediate governing body, a viable factual reason why the application was rejected ? Would the act of refusing membership be seen as helping /promoting the sport ?

As it stands Paul a newly formed club has to apply to their local region (talking RPRA) who in turn advertises it in the pigeon papers stating any objections must be received in writing to the regions secretary. Similar should apply for individuals wishing to join a club, anyone objecting should put the reason as to why in writing. No need to advertise this, just inform the members of the agenda for the next club meeting.

I would like to point out any club having gained a lottery grant must have given assurances that they do not keep members out by any kind of voting system all applicants should be made welcome

As you may know Ian, I was the person that enabled everyone to get a lottery grant and I knew that the lottery would've taken back all their grants if they knew that clubs were keeping members out. Ironically , I was one that was being kept out but there was no way I would've stooped so low to shop anybody, ive always done the right thing regarding the pigeon sport and nobody can ever argue that. The SHU told me if I wanted a club then id need to start one up myself, I wonder if this would still apply if I was of a different origin. :emoticon-0179-headbang: :emoticon-0179-headbang: I can honestly say, the SHU DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO HELP ME as a fully paid up member and supporter of all their causes.

Fanciers should be automatically accepted in any club aslong as they are in the boundaries IMO then it's up to a club to go to the SHU with a reason why the member shouldn't be allowed in.... IMHO

Even my own club I'm not allowed to fly in any other club for some reason but quite a lot of clubs round about me don't bother... I'd like the chance to compete in 2 clubs but it aint allowed

personaly to move the sport forward i

would channel all the money raised from all fund raising event to employ a chemist to produce a product that we could give to our birds that would make all birds of prey impotent this great sport is not bout money its the love of our birds

well the way i see it is there is no farming backround or anything to do with anomals apart from dog or cat and the kids cant be bothered with them so unless its a childhood hobby that you went back to like me when youve stopped travelling the globe then the youngsters of today arnt interested,my lad lee was very keen since 9yr old and condition and trained a good doo to win back in the day but is taen with the featherless variety now so hasnt the time or the energy any more, i dont get any young lads asking about doos, theyre not interested, and when i did and the dad came asking it was oh its too dear ill stick with the xbox games for the lad, if the sport wants to move then it has to be ,free racing up to 16 yr olds, free mebership to shu and national to that age, encouragement by members which will happen, the sport is far too expensive at the minute, unions could reduce fees which are too dear for what we get back from them ,feds want to get a grip and when transporten another fed the dont want to be cherging double rate,i personally think we could be running a north of scotland combine with one transporter and that would be cheaper and attract more people and then we could get bookies involved j.m.o. :emoticon-0136-giggle:

90% of officials are holding the sport back by having a closed mind and the need for power :emoticon-0179-headbang: :emoticon-0179-headbang: :emoticon-0179-headbang:

Personal Experience in my club is that if ye DARE come up with any Proposals/Ideas to make things better yer just wasting yer time because all ye get is a Negative "Don't give a sh@t ! What does it matter anyway" Attitude !! So whats the Point !! for what iv experienced since coming back into the sport is in my opinion if the Doo Game is Dying ? well its the Doo men themselves that are killing it !!

North Scotland Fed should amalgamate in a combine with Aberdeen fed at a point when both feds feel it is stupid to run with empty transporters ,nae doubt some one will come back and say Aberdeen wid aye win ,but thats nae what its all about its about making things financially stable and to say the least sensible IMO.

1. Every member of the SHU is an automatic member of the SNFC, if the SHU charged an extra £5-10 from everybody then everybody could be a member of the SNFC.

2. All fanciers can be a member in as many clubs as they want. Again, no rule should stop anyone flying where they want.

3. No fancier in a clubs radius can be refused membership unless their is a valid reason for refusal.( being a successful flier is not a valid reason ) ps. valid reason for refusal must be proven and stated by letter to the applicant.

4. The Governing body and Nationals should be paid pro rata per member, this means, the more members brought into the sport the more money they will earn. BUT, the less in the sport, the less work incurred so less money earned. This would encourage the Governing bodies to get out there and get more members.

5. Any youngster under 16 has free membership, rings and birds to start off in their first year. It goes without saying that they should receive as much help and encouragement from every member as possible.

6. Amalgamations/Combines should be used after a certain distance in both ob and yb racing. The result/pools etc being worked out by a designated Secretary who would be paid equally by all federations taking part.

Just a few thoughts off the top of my head!!
