Ive watched it for many years and here is what I think.Its a virus with many variants. It goes from ( MILD )not responding to a call to come in for a feed to ( FATAL )falling off the perch dead. Every loft has had it to a degree. Its like saying you have a classroom of kids and have never had any went down with a virus, this is complete nonsense imo. Some people say they haven't had it because they think it reflects on their own management, well this is nonsense as well as the virus cant be avoided im afraid. The best you can hope for is a very mild, short lasting dose of it.The last 2 years ive had it very mild, in fact 99% of fanciers probably wouldn't notice it because it was only a few retaining a very small bit of feed longer than usual. No other signs but I knew it was the YBS because it happens in my loft at around the same time every year. The Adeno VIRUS isn't the killer, its the secondary infection ( usually e coli or circovirus ) that does the damage.ps. If you get full blown Adenovirus then the birds need FIVE to SIX weeks to fully recover, although they start flying around the loft well after only a week, they are not ready for the stress of the race basket.omho

i know a pigeon fancier that has kept pigeons his whole life and never ever had it,

and won most of everything there is to win,in his club and fed,

it can be avoided as he has done it,and birds were in basket every week,

Yes I had serious bouts of yb sickness long before I knew anything about the darkness system, and now I have some young birds on darkness and others on natural I find the darkness ones are more resistant to the sickness only getting it in a milder form where it could go unnoticed .

I think TOO many are swayed here because THEY have experience having it, as many, if not most have seemingly and unfortunately, ... So they want to believe ALL have. That is absurd. There a quite a few I know who have never had it. Fact whether others WANT to believe it or not. So simply put they spout 'All have'! Rubbish, are the others all liars? Am I a liar because I have never had it! No, but now through fool hardy and selfish thoughts, too many I am now a liar. Struth how ridiculous.

I also have raw onions dangling in the loft often Especially when the weather draws in. Perhaps one should look up as to why?

ive walked into lofts where i was told by the owner that they never had YBS and the birds had it that time happened a few times a few had it mild but still had it

 

there are some who cant even tell if there pigeons was sick unless there really bad let alone tell the difference between the different ailments this may sound severe but its true

I have had it. I have had it in naturals. I have had it in darkies. I have had it before training. I have had it during racing. I have had it BAD. I have had MILD.

I've been around pigeons for over 60 years. I know much, and am yet to learn more no doubt ... I've seen Para, Salmonella etc. etc. AND y/b sickness on both y/b birds and yearlings now in other's lofts. I have never ever had the slightest touch of y/b sickness. Many other ailments ok! So how one can in a broad spectrum state ALL have had suffered from yb's is ludicrous to say the least.... Many new sicknesses are because of inbreeding and other unnatural past times done by many that don't have an inkling as to how, let alone why it is done.

Too many lofts have lofts full of birds with no natural immunity let alone good constitutions I'm sorry to say.

Any respected avian vet in Europe will tell you, you have had ybs.FACT. PS.Ive also entered top fanciers lofts that have said they've never had it and they had it present in the loft when I was there. pps 2 of these top fanciers were 50-60 years in the sport.

Getting ybs isn't the end off the work..can be very useful and can lead to a good season imo (along with other factors)

Maybe you have Delboy ... but that doesn't equate at all to ALL had having it. Maybe it's strong hold is in Scotland.
