first year racing , birds trained well but suffered with losses when racing .

got a win , a few positions and clocked 1 from the channel so suppose have

to be happy . made a lot of mistakes ,a lot to take in , but hopefully I can

do a bit better next year , looking forward to it already. :animatedpigeons:

I was never in touch with the club winner, and did not complete the program due to (1) sickness brought in by a stray that I thought had cleared but stayed and was loose in the loft overnight; and (2) natural youngsters falling to bits 2 weeks before the season ended.

But their basic training was a lot better this year (3) round-the-compass training instead of usual line-of-flight and (4) 3 consecutive overnights in the basket, instead of usual 2 or 3 single overnights. Together they kept my losses down, and I enjoyed my day trips away on the train.

Did,nt really bother with the old birds this season , so worked the youngsters this year , 8 young bird races , won 7 1st in club plus numerous other tickets . Topped Ayrshire Fed plus numerous positions and won one of the breeder buyer races in federation also, so well happy.

Think( Hope )I have a good team for next season.

My young bird performances in general have been very poor for the last 6-7 years. Brought in a few new introductions last Autumn and been more than impressed with their performance, including winning the last 5 out of the 7 races flown, with plenty of other positions within the first six. Will be interesting to see how they develop for the 2014 season.

Returns flying down the so called west route were great, approx sent an average of 47 pigeons per race and dropped on average 2 to 3 per race. long may it continue.

Young....had 60...killed 3...started training with 57....lost 3 down the traditional line(corridor fly), after that hard training they were given across the Sperrins. I lost about 20 in one stinker of a toss.

any how 3 races 140 - 200 mile and im left with 30. 22 raced and 8 trained to the ballz(injuries or returnees).

1st 2 races i was 3rd and 5th, then 3rd and 4th, me 3rd race i was 20 minutes behind but would have made top ten if i had went to clock check.

happy with young this year 30 left from 60 and a few late breds running around.

KaKa but we know the reasons for that so its not all doom and gloom. YB season will be just an interest next season. Done some great work to the loft over the weekend to convert it into a proper OB racing loft. Still have plenty of yb's which is a plus.

i had a great young bird season after taking a battering in the training.

Last year i won 4x1st out of 6 races and bettered that this season by winning all 6 of my club young bird races and topped the fed twice 1340 birds and 1650 birds also winning my section 3 times. my worst position in the fed was 6th the iceing on the cake was me breeding the bird that was 2nd in the Sottish one loft race.

I WOULD LIKE TO CONGRATULATE J&G PEGGIE IN THERE PERFORMANCE IN THE YOUNG BIRD NATIONAL 1ST SECTION C AND 10TH OPEN WELL DONE TO YOU BOTH
