As one who has grown garlic I have often wondered where the notion of allicin dissapearing into thin air when crushed came from so I will let you into a secret. Allicin is the smell from garlic nothing more nothing less. What I do when I harvest my garlic is peel all the cloves and dump them in a blender with a little water and blend into a puree. When pureed I fill ice cube trays wrap in cling film and put them in the freezer taking them out when frozen and popped into freezer bags to be used indiidually when required. Scottish Garlic from The Really Garlicky Company, Nairn. is the best for growing in Scotia and has large cloves with massive amounts of flavour. Its easily grown in plant troughs filled with Compost and only requires moderate feeding after planting in October. Believe me home grown is best by a mile..

Having had the pleasure recently of handling all Walter's Stock Birds plus some of the Race Team I can honestly say that their are none finer anywhere in the land and believe me I have handled quite a few in my day but they compare with the best. Real Pigeons are hard to come by and many believe they have them however when you are handling speciman performance birds such as Walter's they are as different as night and day. The pleasure has gave me a rosy feeling which will last a long time and unfortunately will probably spoil future loft visits as none will come near those perfect specimans Walter has obtained.

Cleared up a batch of 18 birds with the worst feather rot I have ever seen with Surgical Spirits painted on ad lib.
-
Well the cat is out of the bag and Walter required my expertise hence the visit which was supposed to be a flying one and ended up a nose ender LOL, unfortunately the biscuit tin never put an appearance in and I was unable to escape without having my pocket picked for a Tenner with no discount for pensioners regarding the magic potion !!. To be honest we both picked each others "brains" and had a good day which fanciers near and far should do to create harmony and hopefully repeated.

Having a little experience of a farming environment may I enlighten you on some facts. When grain is harvested it is stored in sheds which are usually open sided to the elements and all manner of wildlife has access to eat, sh**, pee on and generally contaminate. There are no precautions taken to keep the grain safe and free from contamination whether on the farm or at the dockside where grain ships are offloaded. Its just your Donald Duck whether your feeding contaminated grain or not IMO.

According to what I have read so far Eddy Newcombe should never have won a race far less been the most successful National flier in Scotland. His 365 days feed was 1/3 BEANS 1/3 AMERICAN CORN 1/3 PEANUTS. I am off the belief that we the fanciers are being brainwashed by the feed company's such as V/Laga to use their mixes as they are the best according to them and feed suppliers who stock nothing else but the product they wish to flog you.

30 years ago a prophecy I uttered was that mobile phones would be the future, Computers would take over the world and Pigeons would clock themselves in with a chip ring. I was told I was talking sh$$e. Another prophecy I uttered was the future of pigeon racing lay with all the birds being issued with a chip that would be scanned by satellite and displayed on a screen within the club house and rather birds racing to a home loft their would be an imagery line where the first bird to cross would be the winner. Speaking lately about this possibility it was suggested that in a 200 mile race it could be run as the first bird over the 50 mile line then the same again at 100, 150, 200 miles giving 4 races and an opportunity to have pools on each segment. This idea could in theory be taken up by the National Bookmaker's and shown live in their shops for the punters to have a flutter. Never say Never..

As a proponent of Long Distance Racing I firmly believe it is impossible for drug misuse over 3 days with a hard 16 hour fly having to continue the next day to complete its journey home that any drugs would be beneficial. I am sure you would have to agree that all muscle would be burnt off if a bird had to increase its wing beat even for a short flight of 6 hours. So as far as I am concerned the SCUM can dope their birds up to their hearts content as they wont be affecting me winning the stupid short / middle distance races that they think will make them a household name.

This subject is just Dopey to me and any fancier using any of those substances mentioned previously is nothing but SCUM.

Have you joined the exodus ?.

The Fed delegate for the club could give no reason as to why Appleby has been withdrawn as a liberation site as we the Midland Fed were due to have 4/5 races from there this year. Perhaps one of the Basic's members from the Messrs Garven McKee club could enlighten us.
-
Have been informed Appleby is closed for liberations.

Used to have a Zippo lighter and kept it in my chest pocket and it leaked. My chest ended up raw and required medical treatment which is why I know it burns the skin. All lighter fluid is more flammable than petrol as it is distilled finer.
-
Lighter fuel is NAPTHA.
-
Lighter fuel will burn the skin..

1ins Paint Brush and bottle Surgical Spirits. Paint on liberally over entire affected area till absolutely soaked and repeat after 3 days. This method kills anything under the skin and in the Quill and I post from experience as I cured 18 birds last year which hardly had a whole feather on the back, chest, crop and under their wings. They now look magnificent.

My bin men advised me to put it in the garden refuse bin as it would be well received due to the contents being turned into compost however do not put dog droppings in as they are unfit for compost due to them being meat eaters. Never had a problem as I even had a special uplift with no Winter collection for 4 months.

Pfizer are only the marketing holder and have nothing to do with Colombovac PMV production and I find it rather strange that the information sheet leaflet states "was last approved in July 2011" which suggests to me that this was the date the contents were packaged. If so then my vaccine which expired on 25th January was 2.1/2 years old. From what Information gleaned from the internet La Sotta Chemicals produce the intermediates to produce Colombovac amongst others and they would be responsible in obtaining no doubt from other Chemical Companies the necessary products which would be at a stage of the processing procedure in 2 thousand gallon reaction pans {vessels} amounting to 2.2 million pigeon doses. Those companies responsible for those processes will in all probability produce enough batches to last 5 years so at a rough estimate of 3 batches per day for 1 month which would be normal, almost 200 million vaccinations would be produced and stored ready for marketing world wide. As we are hearing Colombovac wont be available till the back end of the year then that ties in with my experience in the experimental Pharmaceutical Industry as each stage of the process has to be completed before the next stage can be started. If as is normal there will be 4 stages each taking 1 month to complete and after bottling and marketing don't be surprised if its obtainable in July.
