From the first link above. All the text below is straight from link Pigeons or birds of prey If your birds are within a disease control zone, make sure you check the restrictions applicable to that zone. You can exercise, train and race pigeons or fly birds of prey, but you should try to prevent them from making direct contact with wildfowl. Keep a close watch on the health of your birds.

Hi Ally The Dundee syndicate is John Wiseman , Grahame McKenzie , John McBride and the late John Duthies family. Really good results the last two years . Funnily (or not at the time ) my wife and myself were with some Dutch fanciers watching the race on TV in Monte Gordo this year and getting pelters that Scottish pigeons were rubbish so I was happy for the Dundee teams 18th place even if it was not our team. The last few years Scotland has also been represented well by Peter Keogh amongst others . Peter has been as good as most of the famous one loft race teams in the race .

The Dundee Syndicate have been wonderful the last 2 years in the Algarve Golden race . Only one team entry (4 birds) 2019 and 2020. 2019 45th open 9th Ace pigeon and 2020 18th open . Well done.

Transport Of Live Animals - Eu - Breaking News
glencameron replied to REDCHEQHEN's topic in Notice Board
REDCHECKHEN is a source of good information but I thought what a strange mail last night and initially dismissed it but … (and of course as stated we are not in the EU. Its obviously your opinion if that's good or bad but or me the work being done immediately by the Dutch and Belgian authorities will not auto translate to UK once they achieve their aims , which I believe they will) Extract from DE Duif New EU regulations on the health conditions for movements of animals within the EU will come into force on 21 April 2021. This would mean that pigeons would first have to be quarantined for three weeks before a flight from another EU country, after which a check by an NVWA veterinarian would take place no later than 48 hours before the basketing. The NVWA veterinarian issues a health certificate that the transporter of the pigeons must carry with him during transport. The NPO, the Dutch pigeon federation, considers this not feasible and has set up a working group that has been in discussions with the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality (LNV). Since the regulations apply to all countries, the NPO has also contacted the FCI and the national associations of surrounding countries. The Dutch working group has now had an initial meeting with the Ministry of LNV, where it has been agreed that there will be clarity before the start of the racing season in 2021. The working group shall keep the national associations of our neighbouring countries and the FCI informed. The KBDB has also been shot into action. President Pascal Bodengien tells us that we are in contact with the President of the NPO to see how this problem can be responded to together. The competent authorities will also be contacted. Furthermore, the KBDB states that according to some veterinarians the new regulations would be impossible. The KBDB will communicate about this later. -
Congratulations Danny. Very well done .

Congratulations a great performance 1st open and a great team performance -
In UK approx 1700 per year die due to car deaths Seasonal flu has in the past years has fluctuated between 2000 to the highest records 28.000 Covid 19 since March 2020 has been responsible for 44,000 deaths in the Uk (but if you review higher than average death rates it is probably much higher). If we had not had lock down again it would have been much higher. As such it has been responsible for more deaths since March than the flu and car deaths have been for the last 3 years. We have not had a winter with this virus and vigilance will be required in all places . Second waves (not spikes ) are the determining factor in most virus fatalities. Both Spanish and Asian flu had far more severe second waves . Flippancy is never to be congratulated . The pigeon sport can of course be performed safely but is sensible to say this rather than promoting false claims.

It’s a situation the pigeon fancy in Scotland should not be in. At this stage the word “Interpretation†should not be used or require to be applied. It should be a given fact if we can or can’t race at the present time (or when). This should not come from the unions "Interpretation" but from the Scottish Executive as a direct verdict if racing is allowed after conversations with the union. We are a minority past time so we cannot expect to have been mentioned explicitly in last Thursday’s easing of lockdown and phase 1 but the representative unions should have been in negotiation post Thursday (and throughout) with somebody from the executive who would have the capacity to decide if we can or cannot race (what we can or can’t do) It is very possible to interpret what is being said either way and all sides should be respected. Sundays announcement from the SHU used interpretation and at this stage it should say either way as a direct result from speaking to X. It was expressly disappointing that interpretation was involved. Initially I heard the RPRA (and that may be wrong) would negotiate on behalf of all unions so perhaps this has been done to which case all unions should be singing from the same hymn sheet. Again though not interpretation but a direct verdict should be available. The coverage on tv and in the press from England today should assist. Undoubtedly even once racing starts unfortunately some fanciers in at risk groups will not be able to participate and we gave to be mindful and fully respectful of that.

Rest in peace Joe . Was always nice to meet you . Glen

Karel Boeckx was a very good fancier. The wife of Flip Herbots has also died due to Corona virus

Some examples of fanciers feeding once per day ... One of the best hens flyiers in Belgium Gaston vd Wouwer only feeds once a day in the evening . Serge Van Elsacker I read does the pigeons in the morning and leaves to next day after that (although I have only read this as opposed to knowing) At long distance maybe 10-15 years ago there was a small fancier in Belgian with some great pigeons (a regret of mine I did not spot in time before he sold). Anyway Taildeman only feed once a day. (Widowhood cocks) All the above different to fanciers who feed hopper with food available at all times . (Of which there are many good examples ) Many roads .

If you have excel 2016 and above use the IFS function Use the IFS function to test multiple conditions and return a value corresponding to the first TRUE result. Unlike the IF function, IFS allows you to test more than one condition without nesting. This makes makes formulas with many conditions easier to read =IFS(A1<43,"4",A1<57,"3",A1<85,â€2â€,A1<365,â€1â€,A1>=366,â€0â€) Replace A with T on the u column https://exceljet.net/excel-functions/excel-ifs-function Not tested it out but will send link if I have some syntax wrong . If you can’t use ifs and need the nested ifs let me know As an aside the first condition found stops the ifs Or if conditions so in your above I would reverse the conditions as all number will be less than 500

Ever Met Anyone On Holiday You Knew? ---- Funny

Conversely there is a guy I don’t know at all but have seen at every pigeon event I have been at in last ten years. Not just talking about Blackpool but Doncaster Presentations in Belgium , Algarve one loft race . Never spoke to him but at Blackpool in two weeks he will be at every auction I attend . -
Come on Scotland , the only place to be next Saturday . Good luck all.

Congratulations . 4 Silver awards in such a short time represents a strong team . From reading over the years it all seems to be a related team which goes well for the future also .

Thanks to everybody on the thread and those who have sent congratulatory texts and phone calls. George for starting and all who have read. It has been a tense few days waiting on times. It is absolutely brilliant and I am lost for words which is not a usual failing. The pigeon is special, the others loftmates we work hard to condition but Branch (the pigeon) does this himself. Joining the “club†as Andy says is very special indeed. Andy sought out my dad’s number during the race to inform us of his distance and it was very appreciated (as we were searching). For Andy to be 2nd National after winning the gold cup is a special season. My dad currently can read posts on basic but not contribute to articles (we will get this sorted) but is delighted with achieving a lifetime ambition. I am so proud to say we have won this together.

What a season Peter has had absolutely amazing.

A very important and historic race in the pigeon calendar. Hopefully a good test but fair race.
-
Sad news. Joe had very good performances with a small team over many years. A fancier whose results I admired and regarded highly. Rest in peace.
-
Sad news. John was a really great fancier as 2 Gold Cups amongst other results testify. John epitomised a good and dedicated fancier , he was always looking and searching to improve. Rest in peace.

My fathers hen Snowcap is from 2001. She won 4th open Reims SNFC (for a long time at stock but nearly every year up to the age of 16 there was a thought to race her !). Through her great granddaughter Little Dorrie 3rd open Reims a large percentage of our birds contain her bloodlines.

Sad news . Always willing to help . Condolences to the family , RIP Harry .

Just a few thoughts to that. For a race of say 1000 entries do you believe an each way bet would be restricted to 6 places. (Given the grand national with a maximum of 40 pays out up to 6 places) To further technology (once it is in place ) it would be doubtful the race would be decided by the traditional finish line , it would be first one to fly 500 miles in a straight line. (With the percularty of winners not making it home !) I can see your point of RSPB and public not being so keen on losses , with this thought I think races would be much shorter (50 - 150 miles as an example) I think in 50 years there will be racing but it will be in the form of time trials (a team of 1 or 2 birds per fancier being released individually) . The technology is of course already here for that but the excitment of being able to follow the race(and with a camera recording) will draw new interest. I think this actually will give the pigeon sport back to small sets up which is a requirement if we are to gain numbers and to allow it to be an acceptable sport for the family.
