dkj Posted October 16, 2016 Report Posted October 16, 2016 Why does it need to be GB rings John,?because you cant go to international racing without the logo on the year rings from 2015

I read about his distance birds years ago. something tells me they were the old Bricoux or Dr Andersons birds! I have a 1964 BHW stud book and there is a report on the 1963 Barcelona international. James Moffat of Gorebridge reported the arrival of a pigeon flying 1040 miles on July 13th. This was a new British 1000 mile record at the time. The birds were liberated on 5th July

Guest johnhunter Posted October 16, 2016 Report Posted October 16, 2016 reading a book just now,and it states dark grizzle hen surp 54a bred and raced by w.g.davidson Stevenson, Ayrshire holds the record for 1,000 miles into great Britain 1960 and it is probably the only pigeon to have flown 1,000 miles twice

I also have many cut out pages of interest i want to keep from the wkly BHW,Racing Pigeon and at one time the fortnightly paper the Pigeon Sport. Just couldnt remember the fanciers name but i knew he had a good record from those long races. You have saved me going through all the many pigeon literature i have lol. Thanks a lot Dave cheers! Valiant Fifer Posted October 16, 2016 Report Posted October 16, 2016 Think im right in saying my m8 Jock Mackenzie from Pittenweem now Arncroach had the first ever recorded pigeon home from Barcelona over 1,000ml.That was in the 1950's the pigeon was a white hen. Jock now 80 years young was just a young man at the time flying in partnership with his Uncle. Not sure how long the pigeon took to get home but a few fanciers of the time gave him a bit of a ribbing for taking so long. However Jocks answer was that she wasnt exactly a slouth as she had previously won 10th Open Fife Fed Weymouth around 400ml Fife was 2nd biggest fed in Scotland. She was also 35th Open SNFC Nantes 623mls so maybe i tend to agree with him lol!
JonesyBhoy Posted October 16, 2016 Report Posted October 16, 2016 no doo racing i don think.. just homing.. who sits out their back for 8 days waiting on a doo?

peter pandy Posted October 16, 2016 Report Posted October 16, 2016 because you cant go to international racing without the logo on the year rings from 2015David, I was under the impression the BICC run in conjuncion, races with IFC with their own, and cannot find in their rules anything regarding GB only rings. Perhaps Scottish BICC members can enlighten us on what would be required.

Perhaps Scottish BICC members can enlighten us on what would be required.the rule with the rings are they need the FCI stamp on the ring, they could be any rings with the FCI stamp, NL,GB,BE, etc but the SU ring doesnt have the FCI stamp so cannot compete in international racing
