I would like to inform my friends here on Basics of my decision to give up the birds, after 20 years in the sport.

There are a few contributing factors that made me come to this decision, last year I planned to give up the birds but decided to give it another year, to see if i could once again get the enthusiasm and excitement I once had when around the birds. Unfortunately this has not happened. My work also has changed and makes it difficult to give the birds the attention they require.

I plan to let the non stock birds go from now, and hope to sell the stock birds later in the year once they are through the moult. My lofts will remain in situ for the foreseeable future, however all other equipment will be offered here on Basics for sale when I get time to take some photos and put them up on the site.

I still intend to be an active member here on Pigeon Basics.

I hope this now clears up any rumours that have been going around, some of which may be my fault, due to the time I have taken to come to this decision, which was not taken lightly.

Thank You

Brian Herd

Sad loss to the sport Brian, and I hear there's not much memebers in your club now that a few others have giving up,time for amalgamation within the 3 local clubs a think.

Sorry to hear that you are giving up your birds Brian, I'm sure as you say it wasn't an easy decision for you to take. Its nice though that you are staying on basics to keep in touch and maybe if circumstances change you may be able to return again at a later stage to keeping and racing pigeons. May I wish you all the best in whatever you decide in the years ahead.

I have pm'd the Basics member who kindly gifted birds to me, that I still have in my lofts, offering them first refusal on these birds, before I offer them to others. I believe this to be right and fitting.

Thanks to all the Basics members who have gifted me birds over the years, they were all very much appreciated.
