sammy Posted August 19, 2012 Report Posted August 19, 2012 was not in favour of going west but i think we have to give it a good try no point in jumping all over the place we need to stay west for a couple of years and if everyone played there part we would all be back down the west :001:
ALF Posted August 19, 2012 Report Posted August 19, 2012 South Lanarkshire had another great race from the east again yesterday
andy Burgess Posted August 19, 2012 Report Posted August 19, 2012 have had it tough here yes ,am still 8 away from 33 sent ,heard some bad ones too 18 from 38 ,a 2 from 21 and many other combinations that were shocking ?? but in my opinion it wasnt the route as the main reason .
frank-123 Posted August 19, 2012 Report Posted August 19, 2012 plenty guys in Lanarkshire got hammered yesterday out the west wont matter what way you fly all down to luck if your batch get's a free run

Novice Posted August 19, 2012 Report Posted August 19, 2012 Ayrshire took a battering in the east from Otterburn.Too many federations liberating in a small window due to the doubtful conditions in the morning.Being candid the Ayrshire birds should not have been basketed till Saturday for a Sunday race.If we all decide to go east next year then we need to consider Sunday racing.Ayrshire birds home into a westerly location so common sense dictates they should race west to avoid young birds clashing.
Guest Greig the doo Drysdale Posted August 19, 2012 Report Posted August 19, 2012 James burnside had a good race from otterburn yesterday winning the club and getting full returns on the day well done mate.
Delboy Posted August 19, 2012 Report Posted August 19, 2012 According to Lanarkshire and Midland returns from the west this year, its the right route to fly.Mind ye, maybe we are just hearing the good stories???

But I suppose thats the same on the east Alan, folk not telling the truth about their returns. All I can say is there will be about 10000 at the yb National this year because nobody seems to be losing lol. Lost 10 birds racing down the west route all my birds have been two every race bar two hens that went eggy Not too bad Frank
eastcoaster Posted August 19, 2012 Report Posted August 19, 2012 I have had 3 yb races if we are talking about returns on the day of race Eaglesfield 66mls sent 25 - 12 home on the day 8th in clubAppleby 1 110 mls sent 12 - 11 home on the day 3rd in clubAppleby 2 110 mls sent 21 - 9 home on the day 2nd in club total sent 58birds home 32birds lost 26my stats are some of the better in club and my results are just to show my birds are in decent nickbut i blame no one other than 2012 racing ,(Midland Fed)
peter pandy Posted August 19, 2012 Report Posted August 19, 2012 Old bird racing down the West I lost the largest bulk of the team racing with an East wind. Young bird racing down the west so far losses have been acceptable to date, however first young bird race I entered was an East wind and I dropped 1/3 of my team, with virtually west winds since I have been getting 100% returns. Have we all short memories and forgot the East winds we have had to contend with this past year regardless which route was taken.!!.
Delboy Posted August 19, 2012 Report Posted August 19, 2012 As you all know I lost my ybs in an horrific toss before the season but Ive had a few work back, some hawked, some burnt( jet I presume).I sent 4 to Dunbar with Forth/clyde, 4 homesent 6 to Haddington/Dunbar , 6 homesent 6 to Otterburn Almond Valley 6 homesent 11 to Otterburn A/Valley 10 home TOTAL SENT 27 TOTAL HOME 26 96% RETURNS ON THE EAST, by the way, my birds have alot of the journey to do by themselves.
frank-123 Posted August 19, 2012 Report Posted August 19, 2012 lot of the problems must be a hidden illness We could all help each other if we spoke up and admitted they were sick the cure might be sitting in your neighbours loftone loft in my club has been closed until the 1st of september by defra although to be fair to the guy he never sent them to a race

Alan for every season i have known, there has always been fanciers that have terrible returns at the shorter young bird races(usually the same fanciers) though not always. There isnt a mechanism in place to get exact returns for every member. So all fanciers can do is report there own returns on here and readings can be taken from there. Longtown 1 - 12/13Longtown 2 - 57/61Appleby 1 - 53/53 - this after getting the last one back in stray basket today. Same way bred as two others that i lost.Appleby 2 - 44/50 - A little disappointed Sent 177 Home 166, dare i say it that that is the best returns that i have had over the last 14 years after the first 4 young bird races. West is best..lol...JMO
frank-123 Posted August 19, 2012 Report Posted August 19, 2012 why involve defra expletive remove Went to Tom Pennycott guess it was a notable disease so under law Tom has to report it. He does tell you that before he performs the tests
