  1. As this was a market garden any diesel on the premises would have been agricultural and red dye would have been observed.
  2. Vanbruaenes, Denys, Deweerdt are all Stichelbaut's.
  3. As one who was at Newhouse at the time of the incident I can only reiterate that it was a genuine accident and having seen the contents of the 5 gallon drum it was contaminated with paraffin. A sample was poured from the drum outside onto concrete where the water evaporated leaving a slick suggesting their was paraffin inside the drum in quantity and not as suggested residue on the inside of the drum. The 26 baskets that were laid out in front of the transporter I could only say there inmates looked in the best of health with no vomiting birds and I never witnessed any with oily faces. The handlers were magnificent in their endeavours to rectify the problem bearing in mind this situation has never occurred before and their was no precedent to work with. My own personal view had my birds been involved would have been on the same lines as John Quinn " Lanarkshire President " whose birds were amongst the 26 baskets and he was happy enough to proceed.
  4. I was in charge of renovating a Federation transporter and was astounded to find that certain baskets did not conform to the drinker system we were installing perhaps you have more experience than I however this particular transporter catered for 6,000 birds and differing basket manufacturers have different specifications. I was extremely friendly with Ian your Fife president when he asked for a levy to build your transporter and we spent a considerable time going over the aspects of such an undertaking. Knockers always abound when something goes wrong and I suppose I have to be classed as one of them. Please do not insult my intelligence by acknowledging that so and so had marvellous returns when the fact of the matter was that in all probability 50% of the convoy did not make it home which to my mind suggests we have a problem that requires attention.
  5. Wont know till Thursday for sure ! Maybe's 1 maybe's mair.
  6. Sorry Walter I am getting ahead of myself. The answer is still no. I personally have at the moment one 2 year old hen who was at Stafford 230 miles 23 days ago taking 9.5 hrs and has hardly ventured out the loft since. She at the moment has my confidence to be a full pooler this week.
  7. Thought you had went to bed !, Give them a Southwaite 7 days before marking and give me a shout before you go and will share the petrol costs.
  8. Sorry to read about your problem but would suggest you read page 36 BHW June 14th as the symptoms you have posted appear identical and complete cure is advised.
  9. If I may be so bold Walter, Eddie Newcombe who I will always believe to be the best fancier Britain ever produced was of the belief that a candidate for across the pond must have 1,000 miles on the wing racing, with a training toss from 100 miles 7 days before basketing for a national. I don't regret parting with this information purely because if you don't have the candidate stress free and on song then nothing will make it a winner.
  10. NO, I keep them on the system they are used too and change nothing.
  11. I have been a great believer that during the racing season you never ever bring them back and continue to go forward. Comeback races were only encouraged over the past 13 years to my knowledge and see what we have got ourselves into !!.
  12. John Quinn and Chris Little basically tell it all in their posts. The SNFC in its endeavour to increase its funds have systematically destroyed Federation racing which is the basis for fanciers and encouraging confidence in the pigeon by working its way into an area it would know geographically through its young bird / yearling stage while gaining knowledge to enable it to compete as an experienced 2 year old. The perception that if you don't want to compete from inland nationals then don't send is inadvertently stopping inexperienced pigeons from gaining knowledge from distance in their learning process to race back to their homing locality due to Feds not prepared to transport to races at a loss which is beyond my thinking as surely decent Fed Secretaries have the ability to work out what their birdage income for a race programme will approximately be. I also being in the minority believe their should be NO SNFC run inland races and as for those who are of the opinion it would cost £10 to send a candidate across the pond then bring it on and we wont have to compete against the rubbish currently being sent. In my opinion birds not competing in the Nationals should not be entertained in the same transporter far less the same baskets. The discussion regarding pigeons from the North having to compete at a disadvantage due to there location I am afraid does not really come into the equation as we are a democratic society and we race to time over distance regardless who or where you are located, However if I may take a look at this point in another direction !!. Newbury shows that only 560 members sent 3328 birds which equates to an average of 6 birds per member, The North Section sent 131 birds which is equal to 22 members competing which in all honesty in our democratic society means we who want distance racing which the SNFC was initially founded on are to be penalised by the 22 on the grounds of fair play.
  13. I will assume that your last post was an apology and is accepted, I will conclude by informing you that baskets produced by Loxleys and Shepherd's are of different dimensions Likewise many years ago I purchased 2 race baskets from the Manchester Flying Club Federation and they were only 8 inches high to accommodate Widowhood cocks and to stop them fighting each other when in transit which is the reason I was dismayed the SNFC did not employ the Geraldy transporters from Lanarkshire with custom built crates for the watering system.
  14. Then I bow to your knowledge as you appear to be an expert on every topic. Perhaps if you would divulge who you are we could glean your expertise as an extremely experienced fancier that we can all look up to and admire !. However I do believe after reading your many posts and your stupid comments I am of the opinion that you are a nonenity who wishes to remain anonymous therefore hiding behind your stupid comments which helps no one and creates confusion.. Perhaps if I had observed that the aperture in the baskets was to high that the birds could not get down to the drinker would have deflected your acidic comment.
  15. It's not going far Rooster as I dropped 10 last week which I thought would have been a walk in the park for them. What I did observe at Newhouse and the Fife transporter was in my opinion that the transporter watering system which was located on both side of the baskets appeared to me to be too low for the birds to drink from. I may be wrong but don't think so with my experience of transporters.
  16. Rooster unlike Chad I wont denigrate your reply however you have to spread your wings a little to obtain information and the bigger picture. TIC.
  17. Considering I clocked a latebred to be 119th Open last week I wish you the best of British.
  18. Perhaps their is another organisation willing to compete against the SNFC/SRPC next season ??.
  19. The last time I looked at a map Kirkaldy was 40 mile East of me and if memory serves me Tam Patterson from Plean would have won it.
  20. In my opinion the questioner asked which loft was the most consistent in hard races and the answer has to be with absolutely no disrespect to those other fanciers mentioned, John Bosworth has to be the most consistent. No doubt Rooster will come up with facts and figures or at least I hope so LOL.
  21. Training does not win races, MOTIVATION DOES, A club mate does not train once his birds have been to 110 miles and clocked 5 from Newbury all on the result. Personally I let a hen go down after 300 miles and never looked at her again for 4 weeks sending her to Niort to be 14th Open. My bird for Maidstone has hardly left the loft for a fly after taking 9 1/2 hrs from 230 miles 3 weeks ago but she will rarely come of the nest apart from taking a couple of grains at feeding time. Will I get her I don't know however experienced observation says YES.
  22. No words can be said to compensate your sad loss.
  23. On Springwatch BBC 2 this evening the presenters were admiring for the show a photograph of two percie's playing in mid air with a racing pigeon which they thought was marvellous.
  24. 5 from 15,only 2 to-day snfc but hopeful the rest will turn up this week.
  25. Timed 14.44 Falkirk 335 mls
