    Why?

You would be forgiven for thinking this one had been the victim of a hawk attack - but it was another pigeon, what a mess who else doesn't like pairing up?
  2. We give our pigeon droppings to a man who grows veg on his allotment - he asked for them!
  3. Have you read the ITV article? The two people - yet to determine the cause of death in one and the other is 'unrelated' to the first one! https://www.itv.com/news/2019-01-19/two-patients-die-after-contracting-pigeon-droppings-infection-at-hospital/
  4. As advised - buy a full bottle yourself, PMV vaccine should not be opened and stored 'for another day', it should be used on that day only
  5. http://forum.pigeonbasics.com/topic/99741-help-need-bird-with-non-fancier/page__p__1171239__fromsearch__1entry1171239 Look on the above thread for Freddie's number
  6. Ours just happened to be set up at home as we're doing some ring assignments (don't even ask..... ) so I was able to look to see what we had connected up Glad you are sorted x
  7. I got a dash cam from eBay for £12.99 (UK postage) so I would 'shop around' I'm sure you could get better for less My dash cam is great by the way, had it nearly a year, bought the other half one from Amazon, paid several times that amount and it was replaced at 5 months as stopped working, you don't always get what you pay for!!!

  9. We have Windows 10 on club laptop, and have had it since Windows 10 came out. I can recall an initial problem but not what it was as I didn't deal with it, however it works fine - we only use the laptop for Unikon - I don't know what you mean about 'black USB adapter' as everything has a USB going into the laptop! Are you converting an existing cable or do you require additional USB points?
  10. Not going this year
  11. I prefer to use nest felts - we have some old birds that don't make very good nests, and if you have clay nest bowls - the nest felt provides a cushion for the eggs to guard against breakages for the poorer nest builders, it also gives the youngsters something to grip on to and are less likely to have splayed legs if single reared I just use the coconut nest felts and discard after each round using clean bowls and new nest felts At 30p a nest felt - They're not worth ruining a washing machine for...!
  12. Happy New Year to everybody x
  13. Just before Christmas we went over to Middleton in Teesdale and picked up 800 doses of vaccine for the club to have all old birds vaccinated. After last years fiasco - we now drive to make sure the vaccine is within date and correctly transported I take bubble wrap - an insulated bag and pre frozen ice packs to ensure the vaccine is stored at a correct temperature until the vaccine is refrigerated when I get home Disappointingly I have found that there are very few organisations that post out vaccines in the correct conditions (to maintain a temperature of 2 - 8°C as stated on the instructions)
  14. https://www.englishwillowbaskets.co.uk/category/pigeon-baskets.htm We keep meaning to have a look at this company when we're on holiday - but the time passes so quickly - maybe next time....
  15. Time soon passes - can't believe it's only 15 days to Christmas!
  16. Brilliant results Tony - you should rightly be proud of your achievements Well done! And Good Luck for the 2019 season x
  17. Had one young bird return two weeks ago - been missing 7 weeks (from Maidstone race) - a young cock
  18. I have shared a 5 litre bottle with a fellow fancier, I haven't been using it that long, but fellow fancier has used it from day 1 and has seen a noticeable difference in his birds. It's very similar to Avidress but it's more concentrated - 1ml to a litre. It's not cheap! I am a great believer in acidifying the gut, this one also boosts the immune system. If there's anything further to report - I'll let you know!
  19. Edinburgh to Paris return on the bus is £44 - leave 4th Dec return 6th Dec - 24 hours each way
  20. It's been like that for sometime for me - though I've no idea why
  21. We are delighted to announce that our special guest for the evening is none other than Rod Adams Some people have cancelled prior bookings in order to attend!!!! (My lips are sealed..) A comprehensive report will follow in the coming days
  22. For me (and my other half) - they were good (for us!) Young birds - well we haven't won a young bird race since around 2012 when we topped the fed and we haven't improved this year either - we had a 5th, 7th, 8th, 9th and a 10th, all different races - with a fed card or two which is better than last year! We did have good returns though (so I suppose you can't have it all) But old birds - we're picking up 4 cups! Admittedly all surrounding the two wins we had - in the first channel race and the last channel race So we were 1st Burbure (winning club by 13 minutes) and 1st Ypres ( also winning club by 13 minutes) with a yearling hen so we get the yearling cup, and the best average from the two shortest channel races cup We didn't get ANY cups last year We were 2nd club Chelmsford Eastbourne we were 2nd, 3rd, 6th, 7th & 11th club - 8th fed, 138th combine 18,545 Birds Burbure - 1st & 4th club Then we had a quiet spell and took the birds to the vet, bouncing back for the last two old bird races! 2nd club Oakham - 8th fed (same 2 year old hen who took 8th fed Eastbourne) and the following week 1st club Ypres with a yearling hen who was 11th fed, 186th combine 8,775 Birds One of the best seasons we have had in the last ten years! How has everybody else done?
  23. Had a youngster return from Maidstone race this morning - it was from the 24th September race (2 or 3 day holdover) I had 2 missing from that race (would like the other one back please) Birds came back in dreadful condition from the race, this returnee has mud all over his feet and life ring so would say he's been roughing it, still has ETS ring on He's in sick bay (quarantine) for however long is required - missing 7 weeks when I look to see how many flights he has to go - he will at some point be wormed and observed for a while What do others do with late returnees to get them back to a decent state?
  24. https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-gloucestershire-46155057 the story about the wire soldiers
  25. Pairing up early this year- for the first time - see what happens! I might add that ours have been parted since September
