  1. On June 8th we have 3 races in the UNC/NEHU Roye (France) Newark Brighton (NEHU centenary open race - 2 bird) The most I've sent to before is 2 races on the same day (and that had problems) 2 are centre marking, 1 is club marking We have 29 races this year - 20 old bird and 9 young bird We have 3 or 4 new race points also
  2. There is actually a PMV Vaccine called columbovac - it is not approved in this country, it is made in Roumania by Pasteur and is an inferior product - I have seen evidence of it's availability in this country - so do be wary It is COLOMBOVAC that is approved
  3. If you order by post - phone them - ask if they send in a cool pack If they don't - buy from elsewhere There are many who do not comply and just post - not very well packed at that - the vaccine needs to be stored and transported at +2°C to +8°C There are a few who do comply - but they are in the minority If you do use Viovet on line - try also using the discount code: VVLOVE for 10% off in March It will offset the postage charge!
  4. People vaccinate youngsters and put them back in the nest - we did this year as we had to vaccinate breeder buyer birds, and although 21 days old+ they weren't weaned, but we have done in previous years where there has been a late bred youngster and the others were being vaccinated. It's 'don't mix vaccinated with unvaccinated birds' - so it would be your unvaccinated ones in the egg I would be more concerned about. The old ones are vaccinated
  5. Can't you float the eggs to another section?

  7. www.kdbd.be You can report it on above website It will give you a mobile number if you just do a query - 0494145761 (it needs an international code and may be out of date)
  8. Just put 8 yearling cocks in another loft last week- and paired them - trying them on widowhood - it was their first time out yesterday - what a shambles! They did all eventually trap We have an open race on March 30th Not that I'm sending First proper race is 6th April The roundabout lofts are still on youngsters Nothing at all went to plan this year - absolutely nothing at all!
  9. We used to have club insurance to cover the clocks and baskets in storage - they would no longer do it without public liability insurance which we did not have before - it added about £100 to the cost - it costs more to cover the baskets and clocks than it does to insure my home for full rebuilding costs and public liability
  10. We have insurance for baskets and clocks but also had to have public liability insurance for the club, couldn't get any insurance cover without it - that's been the case for atleast 3 years
  11. Columbovac is water based and can be administered to youngsters from 3 weeks of age, Nobilis is oil based and can't be administered until youngsters are atleast 5 weeks old. This is important as we have rules in the NEHU that birds have to be vaccinated to put in breeder buyers and shouldn't be older than 30 days ideally (so that rules out Nobilis). Nobilis can 'leak out' and cause greasy marks on the neck feathers
  12. Hyperdrug (the Pigeon pharmacy)
  13. We purchased the vaccine Friday - and it's a new batch release with a use by of February 2020 (the previous batch was April 2019)
  14. We have just returned home from a 4 day break, with very young youngsters in the nest a club mate kindly looked after the birds so most of the youngsters were either just hatching or were up to 5 days old and I had stapled the rings on pieces of string to the upper sides of the boxes and all but two had been rung in the stock loft - but - it looks like I've got a red chequer (cock) The first I have bred in over 10 years! (parents are a mealie hen and a dark, almost black chequer cock purchased last year- last year they produced 2 hens - a smutty blue bar and a dark chequer, and a mealie cock) so I'm delighted.
  15. I got in touch with Coates (English wicker) and they were totally disinterested! We are looking for race baskets - though they have to be a specific size and having no luck
  16. So had I, but it didn't work for us! Some birds just moult regardless
  17. We have a member who is a friend of Ken Pettit - Michael John Burden - if you send him a message he will get an e-mail and hopefully respond - you will find his name in the list below http://forum.pigeonbasics.com/index.php?showall=0&sort_key=members_display_name&sort_order=asc&max_results=20&app=members&section=view&module=list&quickjump=M&name_box=begins&name=M&st=540
  18. I had 4 chip out yesterday and another two today - in the stock loft - the parents have very sharp beaks! I have 11 pair at stock - one hasn't laid, one lot were not fertile and I've had 3 broken eggs - so by my reckoning that's 15 youngsters in the first round Early pairing went by the wayside! These were paired up a week before Blackpool, I thought they weren't due to start chipping out until 13th February (but obviously I was wrong)
  19. Thank you - we'll give it a go.
  20. Can anybody advise please. A member has transferred birds from another club member (through the union) but the Unikon clock of the original owner is currently not available so these birds cannot be transferred on the Unikon system. Anyone encountered this problem before and over come it?
  21. Have you tried this one: 01723 500685
  22. https://www.bleefe.co.uk/index.php/products-club_equipment/?k=22849:14:: Scroll down B Leefe do have them but they're £5 each plus postage
  23. The cock had gone in the wrong box and the door must have shut locking both cocks in, I had no list so didn't know what went where. List done to put on wall now, so atleast I'll know which boxes they belong to. It's an awful shock when you are confronted with an unexpected sight such as this.
  24. I don't have the traditional widowhood boxes, not enough width in the loft, it's the German up and over style we've got
  25. I think my other half made a mistake - but I think he thought the other one was a hen - if only he'd asked, I think he paired up two cocks
