perhaps you should give that some thought .

Well I imagine you are referring to London city and its banking and finance income? How does their wealth or otherwise have any bearing on Scotland? I remember some of the financial centres being bailed by the tax payer!

Their revenue goes into the UKs revenue as a whole as does all other UK revenue but the fact is Londons financial revenue is greater than the whole of the other UK sectors combined

Bailed by the treasury at the tax payers exspense

When Oil, which doesn't actually belong to the Scots, was 113 a barrel and Now only 43 per barrel.

Now, and as then, the Scots get a lot more out than they put in 9 years a go every family in England subsided the Scots £420. It has quadruppled now of course.

The gulf in state spending between Scotland and England has hit a record £1,600 per head.

Government spending in Scotland averaged £10,212 per person last year – £1,624 per head more than in England.

The staggering figures, buried in Treasury documents, reveal the gap increased by more than 15 per cent in only a year.

Far far more now of course.

According to the Treasury, public spending in Scotland is higher than anywhere else in the UK apart from Northern Ireland. Explanations have included Scotland's relative sparseness and its poor health.

But if Scotland is spending beyond its means - and clearly it is - then so too is the UK.

Both are running a deficit, the difference between the money a country raises in taxes and the amount it spends and invests.

The latest comprehensive snapshot concluded that Scotland was running a larger deficit as a percentage of economic output than the UK average.

Scotland does well financially being part of the UK,big question marks for me is we could not facilitate a free health service and every individual would have to pay for private medical insurance which is not cheap, would struggle to fund a defence force and would have to

Pay our share of the deficit if we were to leave the UK,am quite happy with my hand so am sticking

Pros and cons for both arguments. I live on the border and cross it most days so tax for work on one side becomes an issue but am sure an answer could be found...everybody that could should pay for a prescription so no need for health insurance....defending ourselves against an enemy? Who knows but pretty sure we canny nuke terrorists wae our trident

Any way as said earlier, and trying lol, I am finished posting on this topic. Plus also I am not really interested. Facts and figures vary depending on what side / interests one has to make I guess.

Personally I like it just as it it ... and if it means putting a few quiddies into the Scots Pots, so what, Happy to do so.

Am very happy Sandy and don't want my life thrown into uncertainty especially as it can't be put into reverse if we were to have independence, for me it should be left alone.we had our referendum and the people voted.the SNP can't keep having referendums until they get the decision they want

Roland you will be reading Osborne Paper next ,free prescriptions, education ,Varsity Fees paid by Westminster, NOT,it comes out of the money we get back through Barnet Formula ,as i said we pay taxes then get back a percentage ie 61.8% then its our Hollyrood that decides where that money is spent ie ,subsidising these three things ,the whole thing is we are living in uncertain times brexit and possible referendum at this times its all guess work everone could find news paper articles to back their cause so lets all wait a while and see what transpires . :scotland: :scotland: :scotland:

A lot happened since last referendum.there was a lot of scare mongering. The people of Scotland were told if they left the UK they would be out of eu. Were getting taken out of it any how. We were told we would get extras powers, total lies! We were told we couldn't use the pound then Alistair darling turned round and admitted it wasn't true. Was told the NHS was safer together then not long after referendum NHS staff in England were on strike as a if I recall correctly they were only getting a 1% pay rise yet mps gave themselves a 10% pay rise. The government treat us like idiot and we take it. If there is another referendum the only way I would change my vote if the no side were to say why we work better together and tell me positives and not keep telling us we would fail at everything as that pisses me off most. As we could manage. We are a little country but small is beutifull

What control? Scots can serve in our Parliament. Can block or at best defer.

Have held us to bail you out and put money. £billions in so very many things in Scotland. Schools, Universities. N.H.S and Welfare plus vast more. A just what does the bonny land of Scotland put into the rest of the U.K.? Nowt! the rest of the U.K. Sponsor Scotland to a very merry tune so that the living standard is vastly superior to the rest of the U.K. HOME You have your own Parties, which can vote, interfere with Parliament. Nigh as much as we have to put into the E.U.!

Give the rest of the U.K. THE VOTE and BYE BYE yea Bonny land....

You didnae even need to make a comment Roland, we all know what side your breads buttered on :drinking-coffee-200:

I have often wondered what Freedom and Independence really meant ??.

Freedom.. from what ?, as we do and say basically, whatever we want within the laws of the Country and have the freedom to improve ourselves either through knowledge or work, which is rewarding mentally or financially. Their are no constraints upon either.

Independence.. So some want to be a separate country from the U.K. ?. I can go along with that reasoning however Independence is supposed to be outwith the control of any other country which rather defeats the purpose of breaking from one to be part of another by having to accept E.U. rules on trade. So that is not freedom either..

It has been mooted that we could survive on our main exports which are Whisky, Electronics and Service Industries. 80% of Scotland's Distilleries are foreign owned, 70% of Electronic Firms are foreign owned and I know nothing about Service Industries apart from Wee Jean from Leith Walk.

Naw I will stick with the U.K. as it has looked after me and my family for 70 years and gave us everything we have wished for and don't wish to be ruled by the Tartan Tories which the SNP was termed in the past.

Get independence ,and you can vote for whoever you like SNP are telling you to stop begging for yer supper and who own what is not going to change a thing other than they will have less people to sell our products too and the ones we are left with will demand we sell it for next to nothing as they will see, coming out of Europe we don't have many buyers. 50 year in Europe peter put food in yer belly, the uk tried to shut every employment down over 70 years remember
