Your right John, 10,000s missing right across the UK, I ve heard of many lofts in the N East shutting up for the season because of the losses. I know percy contributes to a lot of this but im sure their is something else. Maybe a government security thing? I also wish folk would tell the truth about their returns, nobody seems to lose many but when it comes to the last race or the yb nat they don't send??? Mirror job for the lot of them. Ive still 20/31 from Glasgow, 9/12 Almond valley ( I notice 2 hawked after inspection :emoticon-0179-headbang: )I seem to be alone with the poor returns OR am I just too f kin honest.

Your not alone.15 missing from 44.

Got one from Saturday's race reported today in Sunderland

And I had one arrive with one of mine on Saturday it belongs whitly bay

We were racing from Charnock Richard?

Our racing once we hit the hills only half convoy appear each week

When I clock my first bird I get others up to 30/40 minutes later then zilch

The birds are in top condition but so were the ones that are missing

40 down so far

I used breed 30 total to see the season out for Christ sake

Complete bloody lottery now

Seriously thinking off not racing youngsters such is the carnage

Hi Willie

No your not, with west winds gusting up to 22 mph was sure LF would

postpone for 24 hrs as Sunday was a far better forecast.and it turned

out to be spot on, and the 7am lib Why did Fife also sitting at Sedgefield

not lib until 8.45 with a strong west wind was a blow home to them

Seen Mr McCords video of LF lib at Sedgefield with OB to me this site is sh6t

LF transporters seem to be overlapping because not enough room to allow them end to end

The original proposal was to jump the Bermuda triangle but LF delegates voted to

go to Sedgefield Have been told that there is 4 quarries within a 10 mile radius

of Sedgefield each contain a pair of **********

Cheers

first race with Glasgow fed sent 25 got 21 home ,they had 17 tosses before race, had the dreaded ybs on the usual day Monday night after race , missed the second race because of ybs treatment, Saturday st boswells I sent just 12 as I was still think of the ybs , got 9 home , one ting I will say is anothet guy in club got the ybs the very same night after the first race , so how many of these birds in baskets are not healthy , even guys that think they are perfect (like I did with mine). just another reason why they didn't home , after our race I thought maybe mines just weren't over their problem ,maybe needed anothet week .

Sorry mate you will never convince me that racing across the country especially with ybs is a good idea

Just a long shot. Could the meteor showers that were present over the weekend have had anything to do with the birds navigational senses.

Canny imagine why ye thought it would be postponed 24hrs Wullie. The rule is very clear that unless a race is IMPOSSIBLE on the Saturday the birds must be basketed Friday for the Saturday race. Conditions did not support a postponement.

Also have to look around at the number of organisations who suffered more than us on Saturday from different race points. We get one or two races like this every season with no clear reasons why they turn out to be bad races.

We can all speculate about time of lib, delay or no delay, never go back tae Sedgefield etc etc but truth is there are NO GUARANTEES we woulda got a better race with a 10/11 or 12 liberation or from a different race point.

The west wind was bending the trees here on Saturday John

Think we all tend to forget it's only babies we're racing not machines

I am of a mind that Ybs shouldn't be libbed in winds exceeding 20mph BUT it's not a Rule and until it is put into the equation the controllers don't have that guideline.

Also in our rules is liberations must take place as EAP. In theory this is a good rule but not always to the benefit of the birds. Have heard it before from fanciers criticising controllers one week for waiting too long tae lib them then the very next week they're greetin coz they are up too early for their liking.

Sometimes we just have to accept bad races/returns as part of the game. Lanarkshire have had 2 or 3 Difficult races but with decent returns so complaining when we get a bad yin is ridiculous IMO.

The late Andy Durning refused to put Y/B up in 20mph winds and 25 for O/B.

Potions not "keeping them healthy" then. Saying that... I don't think it's illness which is causing the losses. Think major hawk attacks all along the line of flight is doing the damage. Some doos won't even see a hawk others will be getting bombarded and when they are they won't stop flying until the drop out the sky and you will never see them again.

That just about sums it up.

Coupled with the fact that we live on an island the birds could be a hundred miles out to sea before they decide to turn and by them they don't have the energy to make it to dry land.
