I agree John if it's in them it's in them 100%

But if you want to win yb racing you got to train them imo

I do know you ain't interested in yb racing which is fair enough

I'm no really bothered this year with the ybs I'm too busy with the wee man and regret darkening them

I'm lucky in a way,my mate has a small trailer/transporter and the birds are away at the mo.lib 11:30.learing the birds to break and find their own way home after the flock starts breaking further down on the line of flight.Sending them on their IMO learns them to follow the leader.Mine do get several tosses before going on the trailer.

I would argue that if you are happy for your birds to follow trained ones home then training ain't needed

In Yb racing I would agree they aren't going to be winning 1st prizes but from then on they'll win against anything if motivated and fit. More racing less training, feed them correctly and pick your target race.

This is not a method for winning averages over the 1st half of the season but get them right and you won't be long making up the lost time in the 2nd half of the year.

In our fed north of Scotland it is over 100 miles wide and we are in the middle,no training would result in horrific losses but each to their own circumstances

How many pigeons that you thought 'HAD IT IN THEM' have you lost John.......me?....loads. Have even lost good birds, got then back, won with them and lost them again!!! I think a bit of knowledge in their early years must do them good. A team full of untrained or unraced yearlings gan doon like snaw off a dyke in my experience.

Am gan tae keep training them mate

untrained pigeons are one of the main causes of losses

because they hold back other trained birds

who don't clear the racepoint and attract percy

people who don't train y/bs and send to a race are a disgrace

as they are destroying everyone elses hard work :emoticon-0127-lipssealed: :emoticon-0127-lipssealed: :emoticon-0127-lipssealed::emoticon-0179-headbang:

The best pigeon men condition their birds to break for home regardless of others circling the racepoint. Doubt you're no in that category. If ye insist on training train them right :emoticon-0179-headbang::emoticon-0179-headbang:

Would be interested in how they can train ybs to break without training

with an attitude like that

( f--k you jack im alright )

showing total disregard for your fellow fanciers hard work

no wonder the doo games going down the pan

WELL TRAINED Y/BS STILL GET HELD AT THE RACEPOINT BACAUSE OF UNTRAINED ONES

ask the convoyers

You've came onto the thread Headbanging because YOUR 'trained' Ybs are being kept back by my Untrained Ybs. If ye train yours right mine or anyone else's won't hold them back.

ask the convoyers

How would the convoyers know which birds are trained and those that have not been trained by looking at them in the air?

I remember Eddie Newcome saying he did not train y/birds.

Why the insults,I asked a civil question on an interesting thread?

john just said properly trained y/bs leave the others at the racepoint

with the amount still circling the convoyor can tell you how many are untrained

or not properly trained according to that way of thinking

Posted

most untrained have to be chased oot the crate and thats the ones that keep turning and pull the batch for yet another circle, fact is ive seen it a million times but usuall by the third race you are getting good libs.

I always hear about line of flight thrown in for training correctly ,Well let me tell you where we are on the east coast at Gourdon (look it up on google map ) our line of flight is all across water from Berick .How the *uck am I going to get my birds to come across a gulf off water as big as the channel , dina get me wrong we do get good results but our birds are at a BIG disadvantage ( example Roye - Forfar 534mls ,Gourdon 534 mls ) I know good birds win anywhere and we have topped the fed before ,only with y/birds never with old birds ,so somebody explain to me how to train to win where we are

If everyone took the stance of sending untrained youngsters racing what would the outcome be?

Surely Its not the answer!

Posted

I went to a club presentation where mr Jamison was on the panel along with mr wilkinson , both these boys don't train and look at there performances?

Training not the answer. Getting them right around the loft and they rake the sky for hours, training them makes them followers when the batches burst up they are struggling on their own, but every body to their own, do what works for you,

I think if someone hasn't trained their ybs then they shouldn't be allowed to race. This applies only to ybs as obs know the script. OMHO
