chris1984 Posted March 25, 2016 Report Posted March 25, 2016 im in 2 minds about my loft floor what are the pros and cons of deep litter like easibed or even aubiose and straw or just a bare floor fiberglass or wood i cant make up my mind which is best for the birds health wise.thanks
William Reid Posted March 25, 2016 Report Posted March 25, 2016 Will say this for the last time . Deep litter is pigeon $hite and only pigeon $hite. Anything else added to the the loft floor is only added to try and absorb moisture. All open lofts will need a supplement.
Grizzlecock Posted March 25, 2016 Report Posted March 25, 2016 Have you tried wooden grills. Great :animatedpigeons:
greenbar Posted March 25, 2016 Report Posted March 25, 2016 easi-bed under the perches & nest boxes ,birds tend to nest in it,
showman Posted March 25, 2016 Report Posted March 25, 2016 Use whatever suits your available time. A very good point. I went deep litter last year. Saves a world of time and didn't have any health issues with the birds. Make your management as simple as you can.
andy Burgess Posted March 25, 2016 Report Posted March 25, 2016 i have ply flooring in all sections. even if the original floor was ply , i layed another sheet over it . i like a bare floor in race sections ,especially during the race season . stock usually have a deep litter with easi-bed , prefer this to other floor coverings and makes for easy management in my opinion.
alec guinness Posted March 25, 2016 Report Posted March 25, 2016 Have had straw on the floor for 40 years.
walterboswell59 Posted March 25, 2016 Report Posted March 25, 2016 as long as its dry everything works chris its all about what makes it easy for yourself m8
chris1984 Posted March 25, 2016 Author Report Posted March 25, 2016 thanks for the replys i was thinking of puting down a fibreglass floor but i had noticed alot of people use easy bed deef litter i would have thought it would hold moisture thats why i asked.so with deep liter or loft granules does the littr need siffted through regularly. im siding towards bare fibreglass floor with twice a day scraping.
PATTY BHOY Posted March 25, 2016 Report Posted March 25, 2016 Changed from wooden floor to hard plastic. The best thing I ever done ,easier to clean and quicker.
flying fifer Posted March 25, 2016 Report Posted March 25, 2016 I have a mixture of scraped floors every day and wooden grills. As said on previous posts, as long as it's dry. Many roads lead to Rome AW THE BEST.

kingziemckay Posted March 25, 2016 Report Posted March 25, 2016 Assessment of the sh** should be the priority using deeplitter would be hard to keep a eye on droppings,

aye ready Posted March 25, 2016 Report Posted March 25, 2016 Deep litter in my young bird loft has been down for about 4years and it's nothing but sh#t with nothing added no powders the only thing that gets couped into it is the grit that the young birds don't eat which is given fresh daily as I think this helps break/grind the sh#t down to a powder
