Tony C Posted February 3, 2016 Report Posted February 3, 2016 A few questions if you don't mind participating. What direction does your loft face? At what time of year do you find your pigeons hit form? On reflection would you have faced it/them in a different direction and why?
Kyleakin Lofts Posted February 3, 2016 Report Posted February 3, 2016 My current loft faces south east. They hit form, if you are able to call it that, during end June / start July.My new loft will be facing north west and possibly south east. When I state the direction it faces, I am talking about the trap. The new loft, I may have two traps. The north west will be the sprint pigeons, the south east for the distance loft.
greenbar Posted February 4, 2016 Report Posted February 4, 2016 was always told. a south facing loft is best,

East / North East . that,s the way they tend to come on a race day too , all other club members are further East than us from 2 to 7 mile further East . does it ever really hit form ? wet summers as much as dry summers these days i would prefer it to face South , thats the best in my opinion . would take an awful lot of "messing about" to achieve that here tho .
Dmurray Posted February 4, 2016 Report Posted February 4, 2016 My Old bird loft faces south to catch as much sun as possible with my young bird loft facing east due to size of my garden and form my aim is for the end of June / start of July to coincide with nationals but it dosnt always work that way so al take form as and when it comes
Valiant Fifer Posted February 4, 2016 Report Posted February 4, 2016 Yb loft faces south and they love the avairy for the sun. Dry out quicker after a bath as well. Ob loft faces east or east south east obs never even start to come into any sort of form til at least end of may beggining of june. There is usually a change in some of them at that time. Before that i can only say they fly in condition. They must do that first before they can hit any form. Forgot to say i dont pair up early, so things happen later for the long races hopefully!
philg50 Posted February 4, 2016 Report Posted February 4, 2016 My dookit faces west and its to close tae the house ,i had no other option (size of garden etc) so i Would say when me and the birds are happy is when the suns higher in the sky May onwards ,if i had a choice facing south and up to the air .
moscow master Posted February 4, 2016 Report Posted February 4, 2016 My loft faces south that's the reason I bought the house lol it has little to no ventilation and has polycarbonate on the roof and 50% of the front is plastic aswell the doos love it
paddymac Posted February 4, 2016 Report Posted February 4, 2016 Young bird loft faces North and the main racing loft faces East.
sandy25 Posted February 4, 2016 Report Posted February 4, 2016 Mine faces south..but because of telephone wires might have been better facing west 1st season this year intending to start with young birds will see how it pans out and maybe turn it west after the racings over ..Has anyone any advise on that?..

sandy25 Posted February 4, 2016 Report Posted February 4, 2016 Apologies for off topic ....thanks for input andy all the best
