33/35 pairs laid. Two hens laid one two hens not laid. Chipping next weekend. Racers eggs in bin the morra morning

Posted

I have about a dozen in the nest to select 3 for a single loft race.

To be truthful I doubt if I will bother with early breeding again as the weather in January makes it a chore and the youngsters just cannot be at their best breathing fog and damp air.

i studied the weather forecasts (to the best of my ability) and could see a slightly warmer spell coming over the next 2 weeks. i am hoping that will aid them going to nest . after that , its up to Mother nature Robert eh ??

Studied weather Andy for the next couple of weeks ? Goodness me the forecasters cannot get it correct for the morra LOL. Temp to-day 12c moisture 95% aye its great breeding weather right enough. NOT..

Pairing the lot up the morra 7 pairs of stock and 28 pairs of racers but won't be breeding off a lot of the racers

How,s things at your loft ? paired up , any eggs yet ? or any young ?? i still have a few more things to do before i pair some up on Sunday :pidge:

I have one Yb that resulted from me missing an egg Andy and its due to be weaned this week. I'm sure I'll find someone to take it as its a beautiful young grizzle and certainly looks the part. The rest of the birds will not be breeding anything until the end of February.

No fixed date as to when I pair up, could be tomorrow, could be next week, could be the first week in Feb. I wont know till one morning I get up and get it done.

Best of luck to all who pair and breed youngsters at this time of the year and come September when young bird racing is completed I will ask how many you early breeders have left compared to those who pair and breed March-April.

18 babies weaned (1st round)...and all birds back down on eggs for the second round.

I must say I'm over the moon with the birds and how they've paired up (since November)....but I keep waiting for something to go wrong......I hope it doesn't. :animatedpigeons:
