greenlands Posted October 2, 2012 Report Posted October 2, 2012 I think the old Vandies were one of the best for a lot of years ,got most of mine off the late George Gorley, then introduced some Dick Baldwin Barkers which were better at the distance, now the more modern birds mostly Van Reet.

Guest maricelbill Posted March 28, 2013 Report Posted March 28, 2013 If the lads packed in take them bill be worth a try what national we talking about and at what distance? young bird national bernie i think girvan 225 miles. pigeon was there to win it but the fancier slipped up. when it comes to nationals we're in the middle of a very wide front maybe 150 miles so takes doing. they've bred some very good pigeons apparently and cost a few quid. i didn't ask further yet. but I will.
philg50 Posted April 29, 2013 Report Posted April 29, 2013 When your talking breeds years ago i had one or two Verheye"s is there anyone on here still fly"s them as i remember there was a lot of gay pieds and near whites glad if anyone can help.
Guest chad3646 Posted April 29, 2013 Report Posted April 29, 2013 Bassett,s (liquorice allsorts) if the truth be known andy, the most of them are liquorice allsorts, but they will say its a pure this and a pure that :emoticon-0138-thinking:
andy Posted April 29, 2013 Report Posted April 29, 2013 Had some great breeds over the years, but probs the Van Reets for Fed racing, head winds and dodgy atmospherics they're at their best but no so good when its raining.

walterboswell59 Posted May 8, 2013 Report Posted May 8, 2013 louella jan aardens best birds ive ever had and ive had a few winning from 60 to 500 miles club fed and nationals into the west hard as nails
JohnQuinn Posted May 8, 2013 Report Posted May 8, 2013 Hands down the best birds ever raced from my lofts, which were my Da's before me are Cattrysse, they win from all distances in all weathers.
Guest Gareth Rankin Posted May 9, 2013 Report Posted May 9, 2013 For the distance it has had to be the west of Scotland strain, (if there is such a thing), tried and tested for many decades. Nothing beats generation after generation of pigeons that are acclimatised to the terrain and environment that have to race into. jmo
pigeonchested Posted May 9, 2013 Report Posted May 9, 2013 wescotts via Peter Crawford of Ipswich and birds from the late joe Bellingham of Peterlee (Vandies x Logans ?)
