  2. Best of luck to our new race control team, let's hope for a decent season
  3. The Jock Poole win and not a bad timer for your grandfather too! Apologies, unable to get attachment round the correct way doc20180126071722.pdf
  4. Yes, the Grieves owned horses. They left the pigeon sport to concentrate on horses [ I believe ]. If my memory is correct it was show jumping horses they were involved with ?? If that Hastings race you refer to was the SNFC race, it was a real stinker.
  5. An article on Jim Sanderson. doc20180125175110.pdf
  6. Was she flying to "Merry Mac Lofts" Peter ?
  7. That is correct Mick, they were 2nd open on consecutive years with their good Blue Pied Cock "Jock". On one of those occasions [1973 ] they were runners up to W & D Ree's Grizzle Cock " High Degree".
  8. Couple of dream seasons for Jim Sanderson. doc20180105084047.pdf

How many channel winners can be traced back to Willie Wilson bloodlines ? ... Phenomenal fancier !

I'm pretty certain they were, and the same grizzle cock was 5th open Reims the following year.

There were 66 pigeons timed on the day and 214 the next day, 200 of these were clocked before midday - according to the report by SNFC PRO.
  12. That is correct they were in the same class. I was at George Wilson's loft in the early 80's just after he moved to the compound on the railway embankment near Murrayfield stadium. There were another 3 lofts on the site. They were experiencing difficulties getting the birds to exercise as they would land on a high factory roof about 200 yards away. Big George soon sorted that, he got himself a catapult and fired stones at the roof until the birds broke this bad habit, it didn't do a lot of good for the asbestos cement roof mind you!! George was always looking to improve his team, before he finished with the birds, he brought in some birds from Fountainhead stud of the Verschelde bloodlines, these were very successful too. Although, I think George would have won with most families of pigeons as he was a class fancier.
  13. Did Jock Allan not breed the pigeon that was 2nd section to "Waterside Peggy" in the SNFC Gold Cup race from Liege ?
  14. Outstanding fancier, the hen line in the family seemed particularly good.
  15. A great read Mick
  16. You're right Derek, Jock Poole's winner was another exceptional performance. I have that result somewhere, however my filing system leaves a lot to be desired . The 11th open bird, for Charlie Hood & Son, I'm sure was their "Stevie Boy" - he was also 7th open the same season from Avranches 2 - winning over £2300.00 between these two races. C & R Anderson had a fantastic race clocking 7 on the day from an entry of 8. The glory years right enough!!
  17. A good winner into a north west wind. Is this the best gold cup winner into the west section ? doc20180105083419.pdf
  18. Did he not have a theory he called the "calliper" test ???
  19. Did the late Robert McCubbin show birds from Dickie Graham's bloodlines ?
  20. Quality - they don't come much better
  21. Well done Gerald
  22. Done.

  24. Logie Club - Sec - Bruce McKenzie - 01382 818350
  25. Well done Derek, a real game pigeon being clocked at that time on the second day, as are all the other pigeons home from another very difficult channel race.
