doc20170110073025.pdf Thought this extract from SNFC Rennes result 1976, where Wilson Noble's " Black Rocket" won the north section, would be of interest.
Yes, he bred a lot of winners for others - when we visited him he told us he bred Trzebriak of Dunbar Nantes winner and also a Blue Hen for Mr & Mrs Allan, Easthouses, she had several prominent positions.
Didn't know that Derek. He certainly had birds from Davie Scott. I'm sure Alex Geddes won the Scottish Central Combine in the early 70's from Avranches.
An exceptional fancier Derek. Grandfather and I visited him a couple of times '79 & '80, when he stayed at Greengairs. He told us his family of pigeons were based on the old Mason 1210 blood [ think Mason was from Barrhead ?? ]. Davie Scott from Brechin had a very good grizzle hen from Alex Geddes and she bred a lot of winners. Jim Donaldson had a lot of birds from Davie Scott and it would not surprise me if the grizzles in his team were down from the Geddes grizzle hen.
Have a look at the other article on Dave Goddard - "Chasing the Dream" - by Gareth Watkins - and in particular the dark hen "Sophie", she is a cracker!!
I've not got a problem with Reims, the SNRPC have had good racing from there, but I don't think Alencon has been as bad as you stated in your first post.
I think you'll find the % returns from this years Reims race is far less than the returns from the years you mentioned from Alencon. BTW 2011 gold cup was from Messac which was without doubt a bad race.
Is intermingling of breeds common in the wild ? I was at one of my regular haunts today, Clatto reservoir on the outskirts of Dundee. There has been a pair of great crested grebes there for a few years. What I noticed today, was what looked like a cross between a grebe and a duck ? Not sure if this is possible ??
A good loft report on Stuart Maskame in this weeks BHW. Stuart is one of the most competitive fanciers in the north of Scotland and this write up is well deserved. All the best for 2017.
