some of my club mates and friends have been asking me if a snfc pigeon had ever won a silver award in three weeks before i can not think of it being done before in the west but it may have been done before in the south or east i just dont know and would like to find out either way it was a great performance by the wee bird so i decided to call joe murphy thinking if anyone would know joe would and i wanted to thank him for the write up he put on elimar about wee jenna but to my surprize joe did not know if it had been done before either but said he would try to find out for me does anyone on here know if any other pigeon has won a snfc silver award in 3 weeks facts only please thankyou as it would be interesting to know if its a first in the west or a first time ever

and one of them was in the fed and longer than three weeks between them

Hi Walter silver awards were only introduced a few years ago really .weren't around in 1976 .only gold awards .absolutely outstanding pigeon .And it takes some balls sending it on 3 consecutive weeks into the bargain .

thanks stewart but that still does not tell me anything m8 im trying to fined out if its the first bird to win a snfc silver award in three weeks i was expecting the my uncles pals grandads father inlaws brothers nephew did it in 1938 while the bombs were dropping brigade on but thats not what im asking

ps i dont know when the silver awards came to be but i won my first one over three years ago

First Silver Awards were won in 2008.Dont know how many races competed in it took to win it thou.Very surprised if anyone has won one as quick as you Walter.Cracking pigeon.

Read your snfc yearbook where you will get all the silver award winner's and if you have time you can check the archives.

I would seriously doubt anybody achieving this in the silver award era. Many stories of great feats in long gone times. Karl Guenther scored at the gold cup a few years back timing on the Saturday and it scored again at the longest race basketed on the Tuesday from memory.

I don't think it will have been done before as usually the Ypres birds are marked on the Thursday following the gold cup and this year they were marked six days later and obviously roye was marked just after Ypres so anyway a top top pigeon.

aye that was the way the old guys did it mick hardy birds dont think there has been a gold award won this year these birds are getting harder and harder to fined i gave two of my best friends a youngster each off wee jenna and the first thing they said was these birds are different how different i asked different shape different feathers but they were both delighted with them hope they breed them something good in the future still got one old pal to look after then it will be lock down and fill the lofts with them

so he did not win a silver award then m8 also they were 4 to 5 weeks between the first and last race in those days but a great pigeon never the less so still looking for something to beat 20 days in modern times also three times on the day but would be happy if its not been done for 40 odd years as national and indeed pigeon racing was very different then

I don’t think it would have been possible to achieve in 3 weeks previously because of the timing of the races. I seem to remember some fanciers (Eddie Newcombe & John Ellis spring to mind but I stand to be corrected) sending birds across the channel 3 times in a season to Avranches/Sartilly in June, then Rennes or Nantes then back to Avranches/ Sartilly in July but there would be 5 weeks between the first and last race.

well guys i now have it on good authority that louella lady Helen is the first pigeon in scottish national flying club history to win from 3 snfc cross channel races all on the day in a twenty day period winning a silver award now thats something to be proud of cant wait to tell louella in the morning thanks to all the guys that sent me info to fined out if it was correct

sorry guys i keep thinking it was twenty days its 21 days of course

was going the to be smart and say no my bit on the side lol yes my wife is called helen andy and as i said in another post she has never once complained about the time or money i spend on pigeons and all the grandkids have a bird named after them so it was only fitting
