bibendium Posted October 25, 2015 Report Posted October 25, 2015 I don't know anything about the supposed West Combine meetings that are taking place, but the idea is great, but I have heard this a few times over the years at this time of the year and it comes to nothing, one of the issues is that Lanarkshire has already set it's program for next year when these negotiations are still taking place, so any outcomes will need to revolve around the Lanarkshire program and this is where it might fall down.I am all for a West Combine joint liberations, but I would like to hear more about what is happening behind the scences, as it all seems to be a chosen few who are involved with it, but I really do hope we have a positive outcome.A meeting took place 3 weeks ago , Involving Ayrshire , Lanarkshire and another few West of Scotland fedsLike you Robert I dont know officially of the outcome of this or any other meeting , just hearsay.Like I said in an earlier post I would be in favour of Combine or joint convoying , but with Ayrshires Race meeting not till February, I dont think Ayrshire will be involved this year due to time restraints JMO.

We authorised our Executive to enter negotiations 2014 for 2015. Not a lot came from it, but we did manage joint liberation at our 2nd Peterborough. This was at least a start. Hopefully this year, 2016, it will develop further.I accept that Lanarkshire meet before all other Feds and set their programme. I accept that in the past there has been complaints about Lanarkshire attempting to run the show and over-ride all other Federations. The whole point behind these talks is to attempt to iron out the wrinkles and allow a joint con-census to develop. We should not live in the past, but rather embrace the future. Hopefully we will get there soon.
johnc Posted October 25, 2015 Report Posted October 25, 2015 maybe time for Glasgow and Ayrshire to join together now with a joint program rather than later

Andy, I at no time have said the Lanarkshire are attemting to run the show Iam highlighting the fact is that they have there program meeting set very early, which they always have done.
geordie1234 Posted October 26, 2015 Report Posted October 26, 2015 Like groundhog day going over the same thing every year lol
Kyleakin Lofts Posted October 26, 2015 Report Posted October 26, 2015 Andy, I at no time have said the Lanarkshire are attemting to run the show Iam highlighting the fact is that they have there program meeting set very early, which they always have done. I didn't mean you were saying that, but I have heard it mooted around that in the past Lanarkshire was a bit high handed. I was attempting to highlight that it was in the past and we should be looking to the future. Glasgow managed last year for a joint race and I think it was successful, so after that little step, perhaps it could be built on during the course of 2016.In regard to Lanarkshire setting their programme earlier than the rest, that just happens to be when they traditionally so do, nothing wrong in that. The advantage to the other Feds is that they can organise their programmes to suit joint conveying / liberations / amalgamated races because they already know Lanarkshire's programme. This is not a case of Lanarkshire calling the shots, it is just good sense to tie in if Lanarkshire's programme suits the other Feds.
