JOHNSEE Posted July 14, 2015 Report Posted July 14, 2015 The old bird season is almost over for another year, again many experienced birds have failed to return home for whatever reason. One of the most difficult positions is that of race controllers whether it be single or joint ventures,I never complain about the decisions that controllers take whether to hold birds or release them, because its their call on the day and I am satisfied that whatever they decide to do they do with the birds in mind, not an easy task in a country such as ours where we can experience the four seasons in one day,I believe some of the comments made on basics this year were very unfair, and very close to libel,if you feel you can do the job better then get proposed at your A.G.M...............Good young bird racing and good returns to all..............JBC/..

Guest Jamsie Posted July 15, 2015 Report Posted July 15, 2015 Should organisations provide training to controllers before they start in the job?? Personally I think that some form of education or another should be completed prior to them starting, with the Unions responsible for compiling the course and to oversee those doing it to a satisfactory level. If they can't pass the test they don't get the job. Each federation would be responsible for the costs of the training for their controller. Jmo
Ian McKay Posted July 15, 2015 Report Posted July 15, 2015 And a thick heed. Like most :emoticon-0138-thinking:

They dont mind all the looes as they will sell more ring the next year Should also outlaw members being kept out of clubs :emoticon-0138-thinking:
tyson Posted July 15, 2015 Report Posted July 15, 2015 thers one thing that no race controller can control and that is the percies because if they hit them at liberation then its in the lap of the gods what kind of a race you will get but the controller or the convoyer get the blame

Jmo how many will apply for the job if they have to pass a coursevery few , that would mean the end of a few feds are your current controllers going to take the test with the knowledge that some might fail and the embarrassment that that would cause for me an experienced fancier with common sense , and contacts down the line of flight is all you need with these weather links on the computer all saying different things talking to other fanciers on location always gives a truer forecast imo
