robbiedoo. Posted June 6, 2014 Report Posted June 6, 2014 Birds traveling all that distance with 2 hrs rest ??" , Jesus. Suffering , madness , minimum of 4 hrs Rest. Is a must , well done mr mc cord. Thankless job just like controlling , good luck for Sunday lads . Thanks just as I posted but some seem to read things wrongly for some reason
ALF Posted June 6, 2014 Report Posted June 6, 2014 Still doesn't prove anything. What it proves is pigeon men like the birds to rest at a race point.Wether it is needed well I don't know.It might not have proved anything to you Frank but it proved everything to me..
daviedoo22 Posted June 6, 2014 Report Posted June 6, 2014 It was just that he said transporter there at 9 then lib at 11 . I have,nt any doos away but if I did I would of been all for it aswellMy take on this quote is birds arrive at 9 then liberated at 11, maybe i have picked it up wrong, if so i appologise.PS.may be a lot of things but i aint no idiot.

ALF Posted June 6, 2014 Report Posted June 6, 2014 That's what great about pigeons Frank everybody has an opinion on them
gulkie Posted June 6, 2014 Report Posted June 6, 2014 Why don't we let the guys do their job that we put them in.
Dave barrie Posted June 6, 2014 Report Posted June 6, 2014 my convoyer rulebook clearly states that birds must be rested after travelling a distance for no less than four hours.
Kennybhoy Posted June 6, 2014 Report Posted June 6, 2014 (edited) Whatever happens I hope it's a good race for all involved,we're due one good luck to all who sent their birds and all involved in race controlling, atb kenny, btw I've not any away myself not enough birds to send to two races..good luck guys Edited June 6, 2014 by Kennybhoy
Smithy1 Posted June 6, 2014 Report Posted June 6, 2014 Why don't we let the guys do their job that we put them in. Did you vote for the convoyers or is it a management thing?
hotrod Posted June 6, 2014 Report Posted June 6, 2014 Is that a proven fact the doos need four hours rest instead of two??? No not proven frank , it's what I want with our birds ,and after listening to other race controllers of the past they also think this .
Delboy Posted June 6, 2014 Report Posted June 6, 2014 Did you vote for the convoyers or is it a management thing? Its a management vote m8??? saying that , it was all decided before the first committee meeting this year
WulDon Posted June 6, 2014 Report Posted June 6, 2014 2 hours rest then a liberation... are you out your f*cking mind! no doubt same fanciers would be the first to moan if they got wiped if the pigeons were chucked up literally upon arrival without many even getting a drink, cant believe some the P*SH that is posted on here sometimes! I think a race on Sunday is on the cards. AGREE!

Frank let's relate it to us if I drove you from here to London for the marathon and wee arrived at 9 am and tell you it was starting at 11 am do you think you could perform to your best ??????? JMO

JMO I agree Frank but there are two sides to it and if we do the best for the birds then that's got to pay dividends. When you take your birds a toss how long do you let them rest before you liberate? I reckon, 20-30 min for every 2 hours travelled is sufficient. A wee bit of research is needed here to give convoyers a guide line.

JMO Listen I never said I would liberate the birds after two hours. Stuart stated four hours was the norm just wondered who came up with four hours and if it was a provan fact on the birds performance sitting for four hours compared to two. Frank you've seen me I couldn't run down the street but I did cycle 26 mile on Tuesday after I drove a taxi all day does that count??

Yes agree and wee need to take into consideration is our modern transporters have air bags and other stuff on board to make the journey more comfortable for the birds but I still prefer a good rest esp for the boys further north that have been on the transporter hrs longer than others
Guest stb- Posted June 6, 2014 Report Posted June 6, 2014 the doos deffo need time to drink at the longer races but i wouldnt have a clue how long that would take em somtimes it takes a while as they have to bump others arounf to get to drinker
