JOHNSEE Posted June 18, 2013 Report Posted June 18, 2013 Damm it, I'll do what some of my fellow fanciers do up that east coast, west wind, doesn't suit moi so in not sending. Sending 10 approx, wouldn't miss a SNFC race, yes even a inland national. sounds a little harsh Gareth,I am sure there are members in your own area who may not send unless conditions favor the type of bird their sending....I believe we have a lot learn from horse trainers, how often have you heard of horses being withdrawn at the 3 day declaration stage of a big race because conditions did not suit the horse.....speaking about horse trainers, what about Ian Benstead (horse trainer)also pigeon fancier who did not hesitate in sending a bird to its first race at 600 miles and often timed them in.You say your sending approx 10 birds, can I ask you how many off the ten were selected some time ago and have been set for this race..

Guest Gareth Rankin Posted June 19, 2013 Report Posted June 19, 2013 sounds a little harsh Gareth,I am sure there are members in your own area who may not send unless conditions favor the type of bird their sending....I believe we have a lot learn from horse trainers, how often have you heard of horses being withdrawn at the 3 day declaration stage of a big race because conditions did not suit the horse.....speaking about horse trainers, what about Ian Benstead (horse trainer)also pigeon fancier who did not hesitate in sending a bird to its first race at 600 miles and often timed them in.You say your sending approx 10 birds, can I ask you how many off the ten were selected some time ago and have been set for this race..Never known a fancier fancier from this neck of the woods, to look at the forecast and not send because wind is not suiting him. Of the 10 im sending, there the bits and bobs of the loft, yearlings mixture of blood, some sprint/middle distance doos, all in great nick, race is not that high on the priority list when you've got 4 channel races coming up. So to answer your question the doos over the last 3 weeks have selected themselves.
