get rid of the inland races and you will lose 1/2 of the membership

as that's all they send to

lots of them will join the snrpc to compete at national raceing from shorter races

if this happens the snfc will become the wee national in Scotland

look at the birdage that will tell you what races the members wish to compete in

I may be speaking out of turn but I’m sure the races the majority of SNFC members wish to compete in are the cross channel events. In my opinion they will find this more difficult than it needs to be if they persist on supporting the inland nationals.

Just about to go out for tonight, but the figures for the inland nationals have held steady since the introduction of the Maidstone race in 2007, on the other hand the birdage for the Gold cup race has dropped dramatically, will try and get some more figures tomorrow.

Example before and after the inclusion of the Maidstone inland national.

2005 Alencon 2240 birds

2007 Alencon 1480 birds Maidstone 4230

Get rid of one SNFC inland race, then you will see the Gold cup race having another 500 birds competing, get rid of the 2 and you will get the birdage in the gold cup race to over the 2000.

to get rid of 1 inland race or both would be wrong . theirs a lot of fanciers that like to race the inland races at national level and don,t compete at races from over the channel.also a lot of fanciers with a lot of middle distance birds that do well at inland racing but might not fair well from channel races. i also think the inland races is a good learning curve for birds and new fanciers to nationals. the money generated by the inland nationals is a fair few quid if anything i think the prize money should go up for inland races.with 5000 birds away to maidstone at 2.50 per bird that's £12500 and only £1125 plus a £100 added. with 1500 birds going to gold cup at 6 per bird that's £9000 of which birds race for minimum of £5000. so i think keep both inland nationals as it is our own choice if we send birds or not and increase the prize money in the inland races.O.M.O

disregarding ypres 482 miles my shortest channel race is from clermont 571 miles

Couldn't give a figure there, but I am sure there are 100s of birds that could go on to compete at these distances that are wasted and lost each year from these inland nationals and Leicester.

They are bad stuff I tell ye :emoticon-0136-giggle:

Now theres an idea from a relatively new guy to the sport, I think its deffo the answer to a lot of the problems. 2 different averages, 2 different types of fanciers ( middle /long distance).Brilliant idea Geordie my old son.

At AGM the biggest suporter of the inland nats was mr bosworth and look at his 500mls results, but i think there should be only one and make Ypres yearling derby. jmo

Lets face it inlands wont be dropped channel wont be dropped so the guys who like either could pay there dues for were they want to compete.

Channel averages champ inland averages champ

I'm no feeling it Geordie, it should be about encouraging fanciers to have a go at the cross channel events with a view long term to improving the calibre of distance pigeon in Scotland.

Not recognising fanciers for winning on the most unlevelled of playing fields, from distances that realistically should be catered for by feds and their next door neighbours.

I used to send all my yearlings and latebreds to the coast with the Federation because they were all coming into the local area.

Our Federation now like many have incorporated the SNFC inland race programme and the result is they are being dragged all over the country learning nothing and becoming disorientated into the bargain resulting in losses.

I have let it be known on the forum before that inland nationals are a disaster for distance racing in my opinion and the Northern fanciers should be asking themselves how Ritchie & Whyte up in Fraserburgh managed without bleating on about being disadvantaged.

The West fanciers birds have to turn into the prevailing West wind about Tranent for the last 40 miles where the North birds don't.

I think this is a compromise for it to work feds would have to go to the coasts themselves because as it stands for me to get a doo time on the wing for the gold cup they need to go to the first inland. I wont be voting for the fed to go with the snfc anyway

Plus if you have guys solely focused on the distance club then it will be a prestigious channel club

This is something many seem to have in their heads nowadays, for what reason I don't know.

You'd think nobody had ever timed a doo from Avranches,Rennes or Nantes without sending it to Newbury beforehand :emoticon-0136-giggle:

National racing should be over the water only

Lewis, I canny understand your attitude. I suppose when your 23 you see things differently lol.You seem to think there are no advantageous positions from distance races??How wrong are you here. Its not only inland races that are unfair, location is the key to all national races. Remember, ye canny demand success in the big events.

Delboy,...why do you feel that you must split into two clubs ie. short/middle distance to have averages for these distances you can have this within the present setup,I cannot see the problems that you talking about....let fanciers decide whether they wish to compete from middle or long or all races....now if there is a problem with race points or dates then I am sure they can besorted within the S.N.F.C. as it is at present.......the minute you start creating other clubs thats a start to a downward trend....good luck when the birds get released...
