Guest newcomer Posted January 11, 2013 Report Posted January 11, 2013 I have just started to have a big cat problem, scaring birds so they will not come in, do these loft electric cat deterrents work and will my birds get over this. They are starving, and tonight they hit the loft roof and away again, on to the house roof where they are safe, they are very scitty, I had them right, flying well and trapping well, but since this scare they just will not come in. They have been out for 3 days and this will be the 4th night. Will this bad experience diet wise etc, have any effect on them later in the year when racing starts.

THE FIFER Posted January 11, 2013 Report Posted January 11, 2013 yes the deterants work with some m8, the best one is the scarecrow water jet, they dont come back once they get a soaking,
Guest newcomer Posted January 11, 2013 Report Posted January 11, 2013 yes the deterants work with some m8, the best one is the scarecrow water jet, they dont come back once they get a soaking, I have not heard of this do you have any further information please. keep your birds in mate, no need for them to be out at this time of year! i use the ultrasonic cat detterent and a jack russell, both work very well! Did you fit it to the front of the loft or the rear.
andy Burgess Posted January 11, 2013 Report Posted January 11, 2013 i have used the sonic cat detterent in the past , and thought it was good .the odd cat still visited tho , no problems here with 2 dogs tho
WulDon Posted January 11, 2013 Report Posted January 11, 2013 I have not heard of this do you have any further information please. Did you fit it to the front of the loft or the rear. neither, at roof level on the stock loft avairy where the bugger used to enter my garden,so it would only get as far as this... would move it about sometimes if i thought the bugger was getting used to it... i have since run weld mesh the entire stock loft length at rear on an angle making it impossible for the bugger to pop across... if you have some spare time on your hands to sit and wait on the bugger entering your garden, a powerful catapult is just the job...
greenlands Posted January 11, 2013 Report Posted January 11, 2013 I've had one for a lot of years, got it at Blackpool off the Dazer stand,I'm sure they work up to a point, living on a housing estate there's a bloody cat on every corner. That's it to the left of the pic.between the doors.

peter pandy Posted January 11, 2013 Report Posted January 11, 2013 Fit an electric poultry mesh fence and once hit by 15,000 volts they never return. does not matter whether its cat dog fox or two legged vermin. Peace of mind prevails.

walterboswell59 Posted January 12, 2013 Report Posted January 12, 2013 bill a cat detector should allways be faceing the loft so it is going off when youre birds are flying up and down and breaking the beam the chance of one cat breaking the beam all the time it comes in youre garden is no good and it only makes anoise for a few seconds where with the birds taking off and landing all the time the noise is consistant and the cats stayaway leave it on 24 7 mines has not been switcht off for ten years cats dont come near when my birds are out got mine from body ridewood
PigeonDetective Posted January 12, 2013 Report Posted January 12, 2013 If you live near a safari park, apperently lion crap works good.. Not very practical, interesting idea tho
MIK Posted January 12, 2013 Report Posted January 12, 2013 bill a cat detector should allways be faceing the loft so it is going off when youre birds are flying up and down and breaking the beam the chance of one cat breaking the beam all the time it comes in youre garden is no good and it only makes anoise for a few seconds where with the birds taking off and landing all the time the noise is consistant and the cats stayaway leave it on 24 7 mines has not been switcht off for ten years cats dont come near when my birds are out got mine from body ridewood i got mine from Boddy and Rideurpocket also, was good for a while, but it never kept them all away. No good for deaf cats. Not worth the money imo. Now its the Jack Russel and a spring loaded ball bearing rifle atbMick
Guest newcomer Posted January 12, 2013 Report Posted January 12, 2013 Thank you all for your answer, you have given me much to think about. I didnt want to spend money that would be wiser spent on other things in the loft if they were not 100% reliable, again thank you us newbie,s need your guidence.
Guest Owen Posted January 12, 2013 Report Posted January 12, 2013 The big advantage of an electric fence over dogs is that the fence is always there on guard. It does not sleep. Once the cats/foxes/dogs or what ever have had a taste of it they never want it again. As long as it is on animals can hear it and will not even try it again.
cemetary Posted January 12, 2013 Report Posted January 12, 2013 Get yirself a wee Jakey mate, they will keep them well away from the birds, get the wee dug use owe the doos, and youll have nae problem.
