Personally, I would not pay more than £50 for an untried bird to race. JMOhttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/emoticon-0167-beer.gif

Living in this area I'm sorry I wouldn't be having £50 notes flying round for percy to feed on, £30 max for me better at £20.Bought 12 in last season four never got a training toss.Do the hawks know which you've bought in or have your own youngens something bred into them??????? :emoticon-0179-headbang::emoticon-0179-headbang::emoticon-0179-headbang:

For me, it wouldn't come down to cost alone: It's whether I thought the bird(s) would put me where I wanted to be on the results sheets; could I afford to pay the asking price , and lastly would it be in my best interests to pay that?

working mans prices to race for me £25- £30 some well known flyers Albert Babington early bred youngsters £35 later bred £25..... Mr Mrs Green Birmingham who do win regularly £25 so you can have some success without paying to much.

They need to be tested no matter the cost.If you pay £50 you race it if you pay £100 its goes to Stock dont think thats the route to go down.We bought a youngster of Jim Donaldsons double sect winner last year it had 6 races. This year it will be paired to the 2% 6 will be taken from it and she will race to 250mile.If at the end of the young bird season none survive it will go to the National the following year and if it makes it then and only then it might get a box in the stock loft . for 2 years only and if it leaves nothing it will be binbag the sailor

I agree 25-30 is more than enough and at that price you may be

lucky and get a good one.at that price no one is going to give

you of their best.not in this game.

Getting them of the best and knowing what is the pre-potent pair (which you cant purchase )is the problem.Unless they are over 10 years old and buy thier best then they will be off-loaded for silly prices.

£20 to £30 no more specialy to race if it was bought for stock to put over a bird thats already proven in the basket and bird in question is proven as well totaly different story how much i am willing to pay and wonce its gone past that far play to the winning fancier that wins it but wouldnt pay good money out on bird to go in race loft just to loose iver raceing or taken by pob or loose of top loft but thats just my own views
