I think the commercial element has taken hold … Money now for Drugs, aids and propaganda setting in. The silliness of believing that money (Wasted) brings results. J.M.O.

Has Louella pigeons suddenly improved or why the hefty raise in price or am the only one thinking this.

Not been for a number of years to the stud used to love the trips in the 80's I can remember buying a hen that Alan farmer picked out for £40 that bred a cock the had 7 wins in the short races for me that would be around 1987

I went the last time in around 2006 when I was re starting it didn't seem the same and left without buying any birds and was in and out in no time , maybe it was memories playing tricks though

Well Walter Boswell has built one of the best 500 mile national Winning team with Louella stock . 👌ðŸ»ðŸ‘ŒðŸ»

From memory in the 80's Louella used to go and buy the main pigeons at auction or in cases pretty much the whole team like the Jim smith fvw and for me it was the first place your new of a new family from the continent etc

Maybe now with competition and the sport having less members this has effected the buying power to what it was when they had the larger complex open

The investment if the Jan arrdens and Martha van Geel from memory was th last of this type of investment I can't really think of that kind of purchasing power Louella have made since .

Does anyone still race the Louella old verheye, lefebre dhaenens( spelling may be wrong ) , de baere bros , George Josef ,etc

That seemed the peak period be interested to know if these are still about in some form

Mark Gilbert buys every year. In fact set up - mainly - with Louella birds. Indeed his first International winner was pure Louella stock.

Going to a 'Fair Auction' of Louella and they always named who bought it if not in the room. The amount of times when the phones went quiet and no further bids in the room it was often announced 'Sold to Mark Gilbert'.

John Millward and son flew very well . didn't know if the main birds were "laffy daffy,s" yet knew many others who had them from Louella doing well with them .

When starting up again in 1984, after a short break, I was fortunate enough to have some good fanciers as friends. I had a mixture of youngsters for free. Did attended some sales etc. but couldn't afford such.

Any way the number of good fanciers saying to me 'The best way to start up, for good birds is Go to Louella and buy 6 youngsters. Also any good widowerhood flyer and get six late bred. They will ALL be off good stock and set you up well for the future'. Indeed many did with great results. .
