  1. Because I'm in the town where the legends kicked off, it has to be Busschaerts. They are still winning well here. I bought in some Kavanagh Busschaerts from Ken off this forum and I only wish I could get more but I think there few and far between around the country. Anybody know of anyone with them.? Van Reets disappointed me, only ever had one cock any good.
  2. Just completed my first OB season with my Benzing M1, brilliant!!! and no updates. I think everyone should have an ETS. I've found there's just as much excitement in watching them drop in and their certainly not trap shy.
  3. I have 31 youngsters to start with but when we get to the first race on 1st Aug, I don't know how many I'll have left. First race 88mls, last race 184mls. Kent Cosmopolitan Fed.
  4. Big improvement here in the weather, sun shining through with high broken clouds and a Westerly wind. Birds have been liberated from Littlehampton at 9:30 in a fresh Westerly wind.
  5. We've got a 9:30 update.
  6. Strong SW wind here Nr Dover and raining can only hope for our lib at Littlehamptom but as it is now, it is only a hope.
  7. You'll get the one you sent as a tester Tony, a light Ch C. Hope so anyway. We're at Littlehampton Sat, our last inland OB race, hopefully get em' away early to beat the rain that is forecast.
  8. I've known Jimmy for a little while now and wouldn't expect any thing else. That's just the way he is, a true gent.
  9. Yes their a good pigeon but just the same as with any other strain, there's good and bad. I have a Hartog cock that as a two year old won me Le-mans twice in three weeks, as a yearling took a couple of minor cards and hasn't done anything as a 3yr old so at the end of the year he will be making room for a replacement.
  10. For a few years now, I have spread a light straw dressing on the yb floor and allowed the droppings to build up and dry off. I don't know what ybs is and just about two weeks ago I stamped the youngsters wearing a white vest ( me, not them lol ) and never saw or found one lice on me after finishing. I keep the box perches clean but don't touch the loft floor until the season is finished but the loft must be absolutely dry to start with or trouble will come calling.
  11. I think it's a MUST that every youngster should fly the whole of the yb programme providing as we all know, there ok, feather, health, bodywise. If not, you'll find you keep em' all through the off season only to lose them in a couple of next years races. We must also be very selective at the end of the season and don't fill the boxes up just for the sake of it. I certainly think with the increase in transport cost of our birds, cost of corn etc we should only keep what we consider our very best. Myself, I could of raced this whole season with 5 pigeons because it's those five that are taking my positions inland and o/seas.
  12. I might have tagged onto the wrong date for libs but the Kent Combine are up at Le-Mans 10am light South wind. I can see Frenchmen playing Bouls on the French coast, it's that clear. Good luck to those racing.

    rats

Must say, never been bothered with rats although my two brothers have. I think the difference between us is, my lofts are on concrete bases sitting on an 18" wall with three sides blocked in and the one at the back left open so it lets cats go underneath for their nightly search.
  14. I rang Pigeon Express to have three pigeons picked up in Northumberland. He was in Doncaster at the time. He picked them up for me on Tuesday morning and they arrived here in Kent safe and sound Tues evening If he can do it he will if he cant then he will tell you.
  15. Hi Ian, Get yoursel a Benzing.

    Liberations 23/05/09

Kent Cosmopolitan up at 7:15 from Le-Mans in a light North East wind. Absolutely beautiful here near Dover. Channel clear.
  17. Forgot to add, 11:30 lib. Silly me!!!!!!
  18. Kent Cosmo up at Seaton in a strong SSW wind. Well over the mile a minute today I would think. Also a lot of pigeons will go over the top. Could be a few empty perches ? Just had a very heavy shower here and more threatening.
  19. I was always told after the 1st of June youngsters hatched are classed as late breds.
  20. System will record those birds arrival time from the race (as trainers). To me it's just a matter of cross checking the arrival print with the original race entry print to verify the bird was in the race. If the bird's details checks-out, I don't see a problem with giving the member his bird's time in the race Couldn't agree more IB exactly the same thing happened to me Sat past and I raced mine in training mode giving me the same reading as in race mode and we had the Fri night print outs to confirm pigeons.
  21. If this posting is not too late, suggest sensible footwear, very wet through the grass underfoot.
  22. Ken, I'll be there again making sure he gets a good start lol.
  23. Hi Chris, Sorry mate, didn't keep em' but they should be on here somewhere in last years postings.
