  1. So sad to hear news of this nature, I can only offer my condolences. I remember in our town in the 80's the Maurice Verheyes, were ripping us apart with their performances and no matter what distance or what the weather, they were so difficult to beat, even with the great Busschaerts. I myself have only one pair of stock birds left here and they will see their time out in peace.
  2. I visited RV Woodcraft at Dover and found that he uses nothing but Ply. When I made mine a few years ago I used sheets of 8'x4' x 3/4" Chipboard, cut them to the size I wanted and fixed them with proper Chipboard screws and their still as good as new. With the Chipboard being 3/4" thick, It's plenty wide enough to accept a screw without making a mess of it, that's if you didn't want to cut slots out of course.

    Reality kicks in

Hi Craig, I get my corn from Malibu at Wingham.
  5. Hi Steve, I wouldn't know who supplied those boxes and if you can't find out, I would send Ray Vidler of RV Woodcraft at Dover the exact measurements with photograph, Tel 01304-219999, I feel sure he will make them up for you. I also think he's as good as you can get.
  6. Went to my local corn supplier today for my winter supply of Beans and Barley. Barley quoted at £7:50 a 25k bag and Beans at £10 for 25k. He then told me that to buy the Beans in, one supplier quoted him £14 for a 25k bag Talk about jumping on the Band Wagon, I was thinking about throwing myself under it. Dosn't look as though there's any going back either. Don't know if there much cheaper up North.

    couriers

Pigeon Tracker, With respect, you are not the only service for us pigeon fanciers that only transport pigeons. Pigeon Express is also a pigeon carrier service who was transporting pigeons before Amtrax went bust. Now it may not be that he can travel the length and breadth of Britain but I do know he delivered in Dumfries on Sunday and with a general desire for our pigeons to be returned to us, he will do his utmost to make sure they are. He also is ( like yourself ) so inundated with telephone calls, he is bursting at the seams and looking at getting three more vans and I personnally am pleased for him because as a one man band I'm sure it's a struggle. I've no axe to grind, I just wish all of you success in helping to keep our sport alive in whatever way you can.
  9. Lovely morning here near Dover, with high and broken white cloud, wind S/Westerly.

    weather 16/8

Dry here at Dover for the time being, with high and patchy dark cloud. Southerly wind.
  13. If your so low as to take an ETS ring from any other pigeon, when it comes up for you to re-register it, the club secretary who registers and scans ours in, should notice straight away that it's been allocated before and throw it out, along with giving you a lecture of fair play. That's how it should be in an ideal world, but- - - - - - - - - - -.

    weather 9/8/08

Dry here near Dover at the minute but heavy cloud threatening from the SW. A light S/Westerly wind blowing.
  17. Paul, Anyone is welcome to watch mine trap, be it from a race or excercising around home. When I say they DON'T land on the house roof, then that's what I mean, no matter what others might think.
  18. Control, as with any animal, is done through the stomach. I only hope there landing on your roof and not the neighbours because that's where a problem could start. Once they've settled in you will be able to get them ( through their stomach ) to drop straight onto/into the loft.
  19. I keep pushing Pigeon Express because I know he is as good as you can get. He may be a fiver dearer but it's same day delivery, he only carry's pigeons and he's always in contact with you. I have known him go as far as Cumbria but he must have pick up, delivery on route or as you say, travelling that distance for a single delivery £35 wouldn't pay his diesel. If he can accomodate you, he will. No 07912947743

Anybody out there using the Benzing M1 please pm me
  21. I broke my golden rule today which is never to train my pigeons ( old or young ) beyond the 20ml stage. I took them to Rye which comes up 47ml to me. It is now 5pm from a 10am lib and I'm still 12 from 32 missing. There's still plenty of daylight left and the forecast is fine tomorrow so am expecting them back. Lesson learnt, will NEVER do that again, they will go back to the system of some 20/30 tosses from 20ml just to get them fit.
  22. Thankyou RCH
  23. Hi Folks, A friend of mind needs the telephone No of Colin Surtees. Can anyone help ?.
  24. Good girl, excellent result. Well done RCH.
  25. Used it for some time now with no ill effect on the birds that can be seen. Ivermectin10% one spot on the back of the neck for lice and worms.
