    This weekend

Same as Ray McDonald. We're at Le- Mans with the Kent Combine 226mls. Am sending 1doing an S. Wilcox ? lol Understand the weather is not too bad, dry and bright ( apparently ) with a NW wind.
  3. Crowthers of Wakefield Website. www.crowthersofwakefield.com I've been told from the man himself that they deliver a ton at a time with free delivery. Anything less, a delivery charge is incurred. If you can collect it yourself, so much the better. Tel No 01924-255185
  4. Light drizzle here near Dover, visibility good with a very light Easterly wind, totally diferent from the strength of yesterdays. Good luck to all.
  5. Have just driven along the sea front here looking at France and can see the coast line clear enough but there is also that light summer haze in view.
  6. Hi RCH White clouds broken up and very high in the sky. As I see it, apart from the wind, channel birds should get a good race depending what they hit of course on route but here right now it's looking good.
  7. Here near Dover, clear morning with a light NE and good visibility.
  8. Kent Cosmo at West Bay 184mls.
  9. Hi Ian, I went to a Unicon demonstration and the guy doing it, said the Benzing M1 was an excellent clock. Can't comment on the G2 because I don't know but it is Benzing which should tell us something. I used the Benzing orange case manual clock for years and NEVER had a problem with it. It has been said, that the Benzing M1 is the Rolls Royce of clocks. Each to his own ?
  10. No Ian, I'm the only one. I think my friend at the end of the day, people are looking for something that catches their pocket and Unikon was as good as any advertised and they sold/sell a good story. Most people I think avoided the Benzing because of it's price tag. Strange now how bad reports are emerging with Unikon it seems, after they've sold so many.
  11. Ian, My Benzing M1 is looking good then ?
  12. wow,,,some sight ,, well done t t for the pics Jimmy my friend, would have taken your breath away.
  13. Not one casualty all birds cleared in minutes and it gave me time to walk around and pick up the usual eggs left behind lol.
  14. The last three........
  15. Two more from today.
  16. Here's the pictures I took this morning, hope you like! More to follow

    No Wind.

Out of Newton Abbott 222mls winner ( T-T ) doing 1285ypm in an ESE at lib. Sent 6 got 6. Quite a few losses.
  18. WHAT A SIGHT. There was 13 transporters, 46,000 pigeons and strings cut at 7:30. Television camera was there but I think it was a local community channel to the Midlands. Birds cleared in minutes and as usual some pigeons were reluctant to leave the baskets so were helped out. Have got some pics, as soon as I can work out how to download onto here, will post.
  19. Yes I heard the same Ray, a real Irish gentleman and such a shame to happen to a man the likes of Jimmy. So sorry to here the very sad news.
  20. 5:40am and a lovely start to the morning. Just downing a cup of tea and feeling very excited about seeing this great lib. Funny as it seems as well as excited it's also a bit emotional seeing all our beloved birds given their freedom as they swarm the skies and start their journey home. Will try and get photos. Shame you all can't be here.
  21. I went two years ago and am going again this year. Will leave home at 6am because it's only 20ml from me. If your'e there Ray McDonald, will meet up.
  22. Kent Cosmo up at 08:35 from Lyndhurst in a light S/Easterly.
  23. Lovely morning here close to Dover with light blue skies and broken white cloud. Very little wind but what there is, is Southerly. Won't help me today.

    What do others do

Hi Phil, The question was just a general one to see how others get their youngsters off the ground. Most of mine are flying nicely now but I never frighten them up. As a rule, there is half a dozen old hens with them to teach em' the ropes. The stragglers may be tempted to fly. Directly after parting, my young birds are fed on VIP, always an evening feed.
  25. Okay, So we've parted the youngsters and let them have a walk around outside for some weeks. Do we still leave them to take off into the skies on their own or do we encourage them to fly with the odd hand clap etc.
