    Deliveries

Don't know what courier service the Louella stud are using, but I purchased a pigeon last Friday and am getting it delivered sometime next week. Not very good I don't think but they did explain however that they had been very busy. I think it's the present climate and things won't get any better until a country wide service is established and I can't see that happening overnight.
  2. I can see where your'e coming from zimmy, the great TFC Larkins told me last year that he dosn't keep anything older than 5 years old to breed from. In the past, things may have been different and as we all know, times and systems change but some things have got to be worth a gamble and I think these stock birds of Massas are one of them.
  3. Sorry folks, what I meant to say was, Sire and Dam are direct Gabbys.
  4. Must be worth a shout. I bought an 8yr old Vandenabeele hen bred by Gabby for £45 got to be worth the "risk".

    flying courriers

Received a message from Pigeon Express last evening that whilst on route, an accident occurred closing the M5 with long delays expected hindering his already delayed delivery because his exaust had fallen off earlier which put him back two hours. I, like most, don't really appreciate traffic problems that these people face. I went out with this guy once and set off at 7am Sun morning and got home at 11:10 am Mon morning. It would of course be nice to be kept informed as most of them do. I look at it this way, if they accommodate me, the least I can do is return the favour.
  6. What do we class as a trouble maker ? Is it a person who continually strives to find an argument or a person who has an opposite opinion. ? or someone who is just awkward. I myself feel very lucky to have found so many friends on here who wouldn't know what "trouble maker" means, helpful people, pleasure to know them. There's a few Moderators amongst them too.
  7. Just to "stir" things up a bit lol I had a yearling cock last year won the shortest and longest inland race and NEVER saw a hen. My cock birds were never paired "as an experiment" and most of them never saw a hen all season, even when they came home from racing. They flew all season with as much zest I think as widow cocks. This year however I shall pair them all and take a single youngster from each and just compare with last year.
  8. I contacted Bert Braspenning about a month ago with the same problem saying that I had aquired for my brother, a pair of ten year old stock birds and that he wanted to sustain their fertilty rate and Berts reply was, a quarter of an Aspirin tablet 4/7 days before pairing. I also think, a place on their own would help.
  9. Cracking day, meet plenty of new faces, been a few times and came back empty handed but as said, cracking day.
  10. Very suprised you don't use Pigeon Express, he lives in Folkestone. His No is07912947743 Don't know his prices but he's on the road now.
  11. Anyone tempted to use water from a properly installed ( lid on and tapped ) rain barrel ?
  12. Many of us had a pigeon go through the moult with a change of colour. ? I have what was young Bl turned into a yearling Bl W Flt.
  13. Certainly dosn't hurt to be nice. The old saying goes a long way and that is, " Lifes too short ".
  14. Anyone used Pigeon Express?
  15. Just this minute spoken to them and they are prepared to pick up for me on Monday but don't deliver until Weds. Poor service as far as I'm concerned. Seems to be a lot of hassle, bring back Amtrax.
  16. The above is how I shall be trapping in 2009. I've got the widow cocks falling from the sky directly onto the pad in my corridor and my youngsters just tumble into the loft in their section onto the pad inside. I don't think I can have it any better. All I pray for now is good pigeons.
  17. Young bird ETS landing board outside illegal through bob holes onto internal pad, legal
  18. Old bird ETS pad inside the loft, legal.
  19. Thanks for the reply pigeon man, I had visions of major alterations but looking at the rule and letting it sink in, it does state the word "Antennae" to be within the confines of the loft. One happy bunny. !!!
  20. As a further point to the above, once they hit the landing board, they then drop into the loft proper through bob wires.
  21. How about this then, I have a 4' corridor and on the sliding door on the inside of the loft ( 4' from the front of course ) I have my pad underneath the landing board. My pigeons will fly throgh the outside open door and land on this and time in. They are within the confines of the loft but not confined within the loft. How would you read that, legal or not ?
  22. Not seen a web page just tel No of 01384 424538 and After 6pm 01384 898932. Page 146 of last weeks Homing World.
  23. I must say, for workmanship and quality of product, the best I've seen is made by "Tranter" lofts. I must also say, I've not had any dealings with them.
  24. You know what to do then Robbie, a phone call and don't pull any punches. People like this, shouldn't be in the sport. I'm sure if he'd of reported it via the address ring and asked if he could keep it because he liked the youngster, it would now be his. Mind you, not a bad performance from Liverppol, one for the future.
