Had a good time meeting Rose, Specks, Jimmy White , Wiley, Tony C, Mozaic and others who are not on the forum. Our Hotel was excellent as usual with a cracking comedian Sat night, the best I've seen since staying there. The show itself semt busy although the stands were down on previous years but still plenty to look at with a lot of interest into ETS. Bring on 2009.

Good as anything I've used. Something contained within the stalks are good for ridding the pans of mite. Only one drawback that I am aware of because of it happening to me, is that a stalk may occasionally pierce through a youngster so keep an eye open. .

I know he's got pigeons for Liverpool on Monday so I think it's always worth giving him a ring to see if you can be accommodated. We know he does have his boundaries but if he can and there are some of us all going the same way, it's no problem but I suppose you'll only find out if you ring him. I do know he's delivered to Wales and Lancashire.

Hi All, It's been mentioned before that there is another service called PIGEON EXPRESS who operates from Kent. Myself and a few friends have used them on a number of occasions and found the service more than satisfactory, reliable and honest. They will tell you if they can or can't do the job. Only pigeons are carried and the birds are placed in clean boxes with bedding supplied. The driver phones about 20mins prior to delivery/collection and should any delay occur, you will be kept informed of that also. I know the person that runs it, would like to form a link with any other interested parties so if you are interested, why not give him a ring. They pick up and deliver same day, birds are always in good condition and they don't carry anything else. I have attached their telephone No and other info. Maybe with the right support we can all benefit from a service like this, that has the welfare of our pigeons at heart. For what it's worth, I've mailed my MP and him being a man from the Valleys of Wales should know the passion we feel about our sport of pigeon racing.

Have just read an article in the daily paper claiming that Pigeon fanciers will have to pay rates on the sheds where there they store their race baskests. New tax rules allow only sports clubs to be exempt from paying and because pigeon racing isn't ( so they say ) classed as a sport, 50,000 bird owners will have to fork out.

Spencer, It takes all sorts. The world is full of doubting thomases. If it's cheap, it's no good and if it's dear, why is it so expensive ? lol. Youngsters off the Sire alone is worth the money. I suppose if people have been had over once they become a bit apprehensive and try to save the same thing happening again, but £30 ? More than pleased with my two.

Strange that young Ben, Don't very often see them around here but this morning when I opened the kitchen blinds, there was one sat on my yb trap. It can't get to them but it did enough to frighten them to the back of the loft for an hour or more. I shall be watching.

I'm going for 10th Dec. I only breed from my stock birds and only have a few so I'm not going to get caught out this year and should any youngsters go backwards, I shall have time to replace them. If you have plenty of pigeons to breed from, then things would be different and I think a later pairing date would be fine.

Know Ernie very well and as I said before, does exactly what it says on the tin and with regard him going North, if the support is there he is prepared on occasions to go outside his boundaries. The best way to find out, is GIVE HIM A RING. 07912947743

Sajfos, You will find that you could have your "V" perches as far apart as you like but it will not stop your hens pairing to each other. There are two ways I can think of that will do this (1) Keep them in seperate boxes which I think is the best way, even though it could be a lot of work. (2) Control the amount of corn you feed them so that they are not starving hungry but always looking for a feed so that it takes their mind off pairing and more on eating. Whether you intend to race your hens or not, my choice would be No1.

For one reason or another we in the South always seem to pay over the odds for something of a similar kind bought up North.

Ryan, Had a son from that particular pair, a light chequer for £100 direct from Massarella some years ago and he bred through his blood, numerous winners and the lines are still doing it for my nephew.

Bought my usual from Malibu grains and all gone up. Beans £8:50, Barley £7:50 and also Chicken Layers Pellets gone up to £7 and a few pence. Most of the bags of mixed corn are also 20kgs.

I am another one of the "don't know anything about the eyesicn brigade" but I do like to see an eye rich and deep in colour. I remember reading somewhere about " speed lines " they are the lines that run from the pupil to the first circle and run like bycycle spokes. The more there are in that circle, supposedly, the faster the pigeon is. I had one once that had lots of these lines and the first race I flew it, it flew so fast I lost it. lol.

I think to fully justify ANY pairing, you must take 6 youngsters from them to give them any sort of recognition.

Just to show what two determined old codgers can do. Me ( stood up ) and a fellow clubmate just having finished our new HQs. It's made from 1" USB board onto 3" 2" framing and is 14' x 8'. We've re-located to our local football ground and the've made us very welcome. Painted in the town colours of Black and White and I'm sure we'll be there for a very long time.

To save any arguments between you two girls Lol I'LL HAVE THE CASH Well done all.

Hi Bruno, Didn't know there was different types of Buttermilk, this is just one I bought off the shelf in Tesco's at 49p a carton. Two cartons make a pint and I mixed, as instructed, two cartons with 3ltrs of water.
-
Well it's certainly not going to get any cheaper and it dosn't cost anything for it to be kept in air tight barrels so the question was asked and answered. Even now you see different answers and that is I think the point of the forum.
