    good morning

Anthony, We paid a vist to St Pauls bay ? some 15yrs ago and had a lovely time. Golden Bay and the Blue Lagoon were really nice and I think it's about time we went back to refresh our memories on how lovely it all is.

    ets yes or no

Read an interesting point in the HW this week. As those with disabilities are being looked at for being discriminated against, it was suggested that those who CAN'T AFFORD the system, are ALSO being discriminated against. Fair point ?
  4. Out on the better days but don't force them to fly. A bath in front of them all the time.
  5. Birds look a credit to you Roundo, nice looking loft too. I wish you well them.

    My Set-up

Hi folks, The wife has about 35 Canaries now, a friend in Dartford must have given her 20 so she's well pleased. As for the pigeons being distracted by them, they don't bother them at all.
  7. Darren, Yep!! same one..
  8. Darren, Jimmy Roy only lives a few miles from me ( if we're talking about the same one, ) an excellent distance man and an Irish gentleman as well. Certainly knows what he's doing with the pigeons.
  9. Have no fear it will be here.!!!!! Like you Tony, I think it's just a matter of time and people applying for grants I feel, should apply with the cost of the system in their mind. Myself ? I'm thinking of getting the hammer and nails out for the adaption.

    ETS DEMO

Hi All, Yes, I also think like TAMMY_1. To me, the price of rings could be the major stumbling block with this system. £1:20-£1:50 a ring plus registration ring 30p ? so we could be looking at ALMOST £2:00 a pigeon before it even takes off. Add to that Flyaways, off the shed losses and yb losses racing, could be very costly to some of us, even with selective breeding because even good pigeons get lost.

    Vandevelde

Think John Crowder still has some but don't know what their like.
  14. Paulo, Our birds are part of our family and best friends and we know them all as individuals or by name and as such, when anything hurts them, it hurts us and I feel that if your'e not effected in that way, then there must be something missing.
  15. Hi Craig, Rapido long gone. I believe Warren Foster does have a family of Rapido Busschaerts. As with all families of pigeons, I think you must be very careful ( if your'e spending good money ) who you go to. Don't know anything about Northern Lass. I think I've given you the name of the man with an inbred family of dark Busschaerts as close to the originals as I'm sure you'll get.
  16. Wiley, Yes, george was still very famous and the only reason I didn't take his offer up was lack of space at my place for quarantine purposes. Tony, Rapido was a cracking cock which I also handled.
  17. Hi Folks, Just to add to the Busschaert chat, I remember visiting GB and having breakfast with him at his home. On his wall was a photograph some 2' 6" wide and 5' long with the pigeons at the start of this page on it, plus "Sarah" and a pigeon I can't remember the name of. Would like to own that now. Me living in Deal and racing against, Gilbert Duncan, ( a true, true, gentleman ) Tommy Larkins, and Howard Henson and having them as friends, gave us in Deal an insight into this fabulous family of pigeons. I've been through the Busschaert reign all these years and handled nearly all those champions. My favourite was the Klaren. I also had a young Bl C that flew his heart one Saturday to bursting point, he died in my hands shortly after clocking him. Memories of this wonderfull family of pigeons will remain with me to my last breath. Pigeons that were and will always be, truly special. If only I'd taken George up on his offer of me being his agent.!!!!!!!!!

    Trapping

I think along the lines of Jimmy, open doors for old un's, traps for young un's. Think I'm in for a bit of a suprise if E-- arrives. Sh_____sh.

    Amtrack

Beanz, I think you will find that Amtrak have changed their number. Try 01622-792086 Good luck
  20. Hi Jimmy, I'm sure like myself, you have tried all ways with youngsters, giving them a few races and stopping them to let them mature. ? Deep down I still think the best young un's are the ones that are trained hard and go to every race as young birds. For some reason we don't seem to be able to get the chance to race them all the way through though because before they get there, they are lost. There are several reasons I think for this, such as mobile phone masts, hawks, race controllers, overcrowding, poor stock, the fancier, etc I suppose the list is endless. Whatever happens, I know we do it all over again.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  21. I agree with Jimmy on fanciers breeding way too many youngsters for the size of their shed. I think most people do it to keep up with the Jones'es and suffer the concequences.
  22. Hi Linda, You always seem to be there when it matters. Good girl. What a way to spend a week end and to bring raffle prizes home as well. Did you walk in something on your way there. ?
  23. Hi Sam, I think it is most probably Respiratory, especially if there is a noise coming from it's mouth. If you pick the pigeon up and rest your ear across it's back, it will sound like two beach pebbles rubbing together. You will find the pigeon looking in perfect health and showing no sign of sickness. As for the cure ? I've never found one. You can give a treatment that will help it for a while but I don't think it will ever be rid of it. If the pigeon was mine and of little importance, it would be BYE BYE SOOTY I'm afraid. Wish you well with it.
  24. Most certainly don't treat blindly. If you intend to treat, get one or two straight to the Vet for his/her advise and find out what it is because there are symptoms that are similar but need different treatments. Do it ASAP before it spreads to the other birds and you MAY be able to save them.
