    RACING THIS WEKEND

Sorry folks, Kent Cosmo is from Lyndhurst, not as previously stated Portsmouth.
  4. Hi Kaybe, I think most of us can learn something new most days but that's a good un' I've learnt from you, 365 days in a WEEK. LOL. How time flys.

    Kent Cosmopolitan at Portsmouth.
  6. Hi Folks, My question refers to Widowhood cocks. I have a friend who races Widowhood in a North Road and a South Road club. He will win one of those clubs most week ends. What struck me on popping round to see him was that the Widowhood doors were wide open with the cocks contained within the loft by a wire front. All of his young birds were strolling the lawn. When he lets his natural pigeons out, the Widow cocks door remains open. The only time he closes them, is when THEIR HENS are out. We talk about closing the doors and resting the cocks, does it really matter as long as their CONTENT. ?
  7. Can the older end of the forum remember being at school and getting ONE jab for Polio, Measles etc and never having to worry about it anymore ? well surely the same should apply to the birds with a jab for Paramyxo. A one off jab and we should be pushing for it. I think all these government bodies have a monopoly on pigeon fanciers and are ripping us off. What next, an annual jab for Bird Flu.?

    chimley sweep

I had it happen to me. Took a few bricks from the chimney breast at bedroom floor level, shone a torch down and spotted the pigeon. I nailed a piece of wood 6" x 6" onto a piece of 1" x 1" dropped it into tho hole that I had made and the pigeon ( a pied cock ) jumped on it and I pulled him clear. Have had my chimney pots capped since then.
  10. Walking along the Seafront at Deal, beautiful morning, visibilty across the channel, Excellent. Very little wind from an Easterly direction.

Kent Cosmo managed to get away at 9:40 from Portsmouth in a light NE.
  15. 8:30 Dover, Rain stopped, skies clearing with a light Westerly wind. Visibility across the channel good.
  16. Raining here in Dover at 7:45, looking slightly overcast. No wind. Hopefully brighten up later.
  17. I read the winner was Tony C this morning at 04:50 and I couldn't really tell you that early what I thought because I was gob smacked. But now and because Tony C is a very good friend of mine I can. He's nothing but a jammy B. Well done mate, hope you lose it off the loft. LOL,LOL.
  18. Locally, it has been found that youngsters that complete ALL the youngbird programme have been the better old birds. Youngsters that are picked out and stopped, more often that not, falter as yearlings. A crack fancier ( no longer with us ) once told me that he works every day, then so does his pigeons.
  19. Well done last week Robert, youv'e got something right. Keep it going. Kent Cosmo at Portsmouth this week 112mls to me.
  20. I would only say one thing with babies, be very careful not to train before youv'e seen them roaming/ranging. I think that's asking for trouble. We tend to get too impatient with youngsters and because Joe Bloggs down the road has got his going from 20mls and ours arn't going at all, we try to play catch-up. Fatal.!! They will go when their ready and dissapear for an hour or more. I tried the catch-up syndrome last year and lost half my team from the first toss of less than five miles.
  21. See you people have no taste at all when it comes to Football teams. Forever Blowing Bubbles !!!!

LadyDoo, Just the same as I would if England were not being represented and it was one of the other British teams, I would be shouting myself hoarse but some people are a little different. Sad!! Sad!! ENGLAND FOREVER.!!!!

    Fathers Day

Would you believe, I am having a family day on the beach with my son and daughter, g/kids as well. Weather very warm here so all should be well for blisters and headaches. Know the feeling on Diabetes Jack, me too. Difficult to say no to the spotted dick or treacle pudding.
