Instinct or Motherhood ?? I've recently disposed of a cock that was not right. I left his hen sitting on a three day old youngster. I then moved this youngster under another pair, into a box some 7 feet away. I did this after the evening feed. The following morning I went into the stock loft and saw the hen of the box that I'd moved the youngster to, sat on top of what I thought was the cock of the box, both sitting their youngsters. I lfted the hen of the box off and imagine my suprise when I saw the hen from the box that I had moved the youngster from, sat on the babies as well. She had not been made welcome because she was beaten about the eyes badly but WOULD NOT move. She is fine now.

Seems as though some of you folks had good returns yesterday, we were at Poole and some of our returns on the night were-: 2 from 9, 4 from 12, 10 from 30, 4 from 20, 11 from 20, 1 from 11. Bit sole destroying for all concerned. Hyacinth, keeping canary's is looking good.!!!

I wonder if any of you can tell of an instance where you may have retrieved one of your racing pigeons from a fate that would most probably of cost the pigeons life or permanently damaged it if you hadn't done what you did to save it. The pigeon has got better and gone on to win for you. I wonder if that's their way of saying thankyou. I was second Fed this year with a Bl C that suffered Sour Crop last year but managed to pull him round so he's repaid me.

Yeah, amazing instinct mine have, all seem to know when it's Sunday and arrive home from Saturdays race. LOL.

What do members of the forum do when selecting a breeding pair. Do they select the HEN first or the COCK ? or not really bothered.

WHAT A LOAD OF C--P !!!!!! Yesterday arranged for a pick up of two youngsters and thrashed home hard that I needed boxes. Today, I again contacted with the same enthusiasm about wanting boxes. Amtrak arrive to collect. NO BOXES!!!! Where do we go. I again phoned them only to be told that they had spoken to my wife ( they hadn't ) saying that the youngsters would be picked up tomorrow ( Friday ) because they realised whilst the driver was in transit that he had no boxes. Picking up Friday would increase the cost of delivery twofold, being made on Sat. He then suggested BANK HOLIDAY MONDAY!!! Am I living in the real world ? I told him Tuesday would be the earliest for pick up, making the youngsters another week older. The driver on seeing my anger found an old Amtrak box under his seat so we managed to get them sent in comfort. Ever had one of those days.

Another alternative. Get yourself a paint gun, the ones the kids use. Rattle the cat with a paint bullet from that and you won't see it again. It won't do any lasting damage to the cat but it will serve it's memory well.
