    respotory

Hi S75, You ask when is the best time to treat for Respiratory before the season starts. If they havn't got it, why treat ? To help PREVENT it, make sure your not overcrowded and the loft has more than enough ventilation. I aways thought Tylan to be the best for treating when it popped it's head up. I thought it had been taken off the market but reading some of these replies, it could still be available.
  3. PM, I asked the same question some time ago and was given more or less the same answers but decided to get one anyway. If you go into your search engine and type Cat Gard ( spelt like that ) then scroll down to Garden Supply Direct-Cat Gard-Catgard Deterrent, that's the one I've got. Two year guarantee and only £19:98 plus £2: 50pp.? working fine. I watched them scoot away first couple of days, don't see em' now.
  4. I agree with Silverwings, they look something special.

I've heard that club secretaries have been issued with a booklet from the RPRA. As I understand it, training as normal. No paperwork reqd. Check with your club sec.

    starting again

I wouldn't keep too many pigeons just get 5/6 pairs for stock. Two very important things I would consider, would be my finances and the feelings of my neighbours. The neighbours could make my life a misery before I got off the ground and it could be a lot of money wasted. Knowing this forum as I do, there are some excellent experienced fanciers on here who wouldn't do anyone a wrong. I would decide on the breed of pigeons I wanted sprint/distance or both and then make enquiries through here. Other than that, I would go to Massarella, a man who has bought expensive pigeons into the pocket of the working man. UP THE HAMMERS!!!!
  8. When exercising the cocks do we leave the loft doors open ? or do we keep them closed ? and why ?
  9. When ringing youngsters, do we put the rings on so that they can be read easily on basket night ( upside down ) or do we ring them so that they read the right way when the pigeon is standing up. The feeling in our club is that they should be rung on the RIGHT leg as well. ?
  10. Hope it goes in our favour. If it dosn't, could be a few clubs looking for new HQs.
  11. Strange Peckedhen, Just 10 days ago I was telling a friend that I had a pair of eggs that looked as though they wern't going to hatch. They were full, yet I couldn't feel any movement. I checked the eggs and noticed the very smallest hairline crack in the shell. No movement so I thought the youngsters would be resting. It took those youngsters THREE DAYS to hatch. I hope they show the same determination in the race basket. I think I would give your eggs two more days and if nothing showing, ditch them but as Fifer suggests, MAKE SURE that you got the date right. Good Luck.
  12. Sounds like a load of Bull LOL.

    Rearing

For the first time, I have been rearing a few youngsters by dampening the corn with Cod Liver Oil and drying it with Babies Milk Powder. Noticed quite a few damp patches on the loft floor which I think could be down to the Oil. Don't like it and havn't noticed any significant growth in the youngsters. Am now using Gem Thee Pax with Babies milk powder and hoping for a big improvement. How's everybody else's young un's coming on ?

It seems that's the way things are going these days with Councils and neighbours. I'm sure there will be a lot more of it. Sorry to hear that Wayne.

    Isle of Wight

Thanks Richard, I was wondering along the line of YBs. Where I fly from it would give them perhaps a 140ml tester with very little water to cross if it is acceptable Geographically.
  17. I understand we have a liberation site on the Isle of Wight. Anybody tried it ?

    Sound Advice

Don't expect too much at first. Try and be a good club member. Lose with dignity. Win with pride.
  19. Thanks Hyacinth, no worry.

    BILLINGHAM LADS

We're so lucky to have such comradship when the chips are down. Being an ex miner, I know of such a feeling. WELL DONE TO ALL INVOLVED I certainly hope someone is taken to task about this vile and vicious attack.
  21. We should leave it to those that know much better than we do. Until I hear otherwise, come the 27/3, I shall be down the road like a long dog with a pannier of widow cocks in the car. HAPPY RACING TO ALL.
  22. I doubt if I would get you to stand right, especially coming out of your loft of deep litter wearing those high heels. LOL
  23. Tony C, Don't think your'e getting out of it.
  24. Thanks Hyacinth, It's just something I need to do after seeing eight famous pigeons ( not that mine are famous ) of George Busschaert all together in one large frame on the wall in his home.
  25. Sorry Rose, Don't know how to turn the cooker on!!
