Well done to Hyacinth and " Nancy " on their wins, seems as though they were determined pigeons and wanted to get home. I have heard though that there are a few empty perches.

    Blind in one eye

Strange, Last week, a cock that came home on the Saturday had feathers skinned at the back of his head leaving a small raw area. The wound was virtually healed and today, I took 14 cocks training him being one of them. When he dropped some 15 mins behind the others I couldn't help but notice this raw patch had been opened up again to the size of a two penny piece. That's him finished for this season. Do you think they are like chickens, ? when one of those is poorly/run down, the group then set about it quite viciously.

    Blind in one eye

Hi Hyacinth, I remember many years ago reading a post by Old Hand who said that a pigeon that was blind in one eye when let out, would fly in ever decreasing circles until it dropped to the ground exhausted. At least it seems as though your hen has got her wits about her and of course I know you won't race her but most certainly if she's well bred, always worth a pair of young un's or keep her for a dropper/widow hen ?

    WING STAMPS

Agree with Alan Smith, It is an RPRA rule all pigeons should be stamped ( and I believe on 3 flights ) or have a name and addres ring on them and this to be done before training. As I wean my youngsters, my Tel No goes on 3 flights.
  23. Hi Nancyview, Things havn't changed with me sitting in the corner, I used to do that all the time at SCHOOL not forgetting the funny shaped hat I had on my head. LOL.

    Feeding ybs

Hi Westy, I would never ration youngsters, all the time they are growing. Feed until they are satisfied. I let mine out once a day in the afternoon, to avoid flyaways ( we've had a post on this ) and by this time, they are again looking for their daily feed. When you're training them of course, then that is a different thing, then you can reduce their feed to control them. I think you're right in only feeding once a day, after their exercise.
