    England!!

Hope we play a bit better than that when we play the final.
  3. Hi Speedbird, I asked the same question about resting pigeons and got very little response. However, I rested mine and took a smash when it came to race day. I will say this, my brother starts em' off at the start of the season and they go EVERY week and he's never short of prizes.
  4. Kent Cosmo at Sennon Cove 320 mls to me. Could be interesting with the Ulster Fed there as well.
  5. A friend of mine had 11 Foreign youngsters go into his loft in one bunch at the week end, all rubbered up. I had 2 old and one youngster drop in, all gagging for a drink. Anybody else experiencing similar things.?
  6. Townies.
  7. Do members think it's worth resting pigeons ? I sent two cocks last week and rested 14 others of different ages although trained them. I got last weeks two cocks first and am still waiting for the other 14 an hour later.
  8. Kent Cosmo up at 8:15 from Lyndhurst in a light South Easter.
  9. Dover, beautiful clear skies with a light Easterly. Going to be a scorcher, have the Electrolytes waiting.

    training

Agree with Jimmy, once you start with youngsters, MUST go every day. That's why I start two weeks before the first YB race and keep em going, sometimes twice a day, depending on how well they are coming. I also train no further than 20mls but that's my own thing.
  11. Saddler, Quite an old " trick" in weather as hot as is forecast on Saturday, was to feed all the widow cocks a handfull of rice at dinner time, remove the drinker and re-place an hour before basketing, easily digested, light and soaks up water.

    Masterplan

Maybe you'll breed me a pair, or is it a case of " I'm alright Jack".
  13. Kent Cosmopolitan Fed at Lyndhurst. 131mls to me. Glad it's only a short one in the expected heat.
  14. Hi Hyacinth, My cocks like yours, have gone flat so I've paired them up again and if I'm right in reading most of Jacks comments, it seems the wrong thing to do but I don't know what else too do. Some say keep them in for a few days, some say train em'. I have had two training tosses this week both cocks and hens in the HOPE that I can re-kindle some sort form. They are in sparkling condition but the form is missing. See what this weeks results do. Gives me a headache.
  15. Hi Jack, It seems as though my previous post got us a little cross wired and unintentionally got your feathers ruffled. Firstly I understood us to be discussing YB feeding and secondly that people were giving their youngsters 1oz a day hence my remark that I would find it difficult to do that as individuals other than youngsters on a widow hood system where they would be treated as old birds. Maybe I've misread the previous posts and got things in the wrong context but certainly no offence meant.
  16. I am feeding my youngsters on Bucktons V.I.P. Jack, I would find it very difficult to feed youngsters individually and if I had 20 youngsters and measured out 20ozs in a trough, the greedy ones would still eat perhaps double their share, leaving the others wanting. I strongly believe until you start training, don't ration because the youngsters are growing. Give them their fill and watch until the last one has left the hopper before removing the remainder of the feed.
  17. Well done Marky, Icing on the cake.
  18. Ever since I've been on widowhood, my pigeons have NEVER flown for an hour just raced around home for 15-20 minutes. If you live on an estate of sorts, it's difficult to get your birds to fly and flagging them only pushes them to the housetops. If you're fortunate enough to live in the wide open spaces, they will exercise naturally. I remember a champion pigeon called " FIREFLY " his owner ( a friend of mine ) told me that EVERY day when the cocks were let out, FIREFLY would go straight to the TV arial and never move until the other cocks came in. Put him in the basket at week ends, nothing to touch him. Just showing that all pigeons are individuals.

    Black Diamonds

Hyacinth, Suppose it goes to show that in some cases looks arn't everything because they certainly look a stunning type of pigeon the way they have been presented.
  20. Hi People, Skipping through the web, picked up on these fantastic LOOKING pigeons in Australia. Anyone in the UK you know of got em'.? know anything about them, any good? go to www.pigeonstud.com Don't know if our friend Jack Barkel can get anything from the eyes. Just seem to be a nice type of pigeon.
  21. Dover, beautiful morning with a light Westerly wind. Let's get the strings cut from Wincanton.

    LIBS 27/5/06

Kent Cosmopolitan Fed at Wincanton. Update at midday.
  23. Dover, 07:00 light grey skies, dry but expecting rain. West wind.
  24. As with most things, you will ALWAYS get the exception to the rule. Any hatches after June the 1st are classed as late breds and their chances of going through a normal moult are slim. I stick with what I said on my previous post a late bred of the highest calibre for BREEDING ONLY. At least ANT, as with always. people give their views and it's up to you to make your mind up. Good luck with whatever you decide on.
  25. Agree with Hyacinth. Late breds, unless off something very very special and required solely for breeding purposes, are not reared here. As for racing them next year, they will have adult bodies on baby wings. Save yourself the heartache.
