  1. Hi John, I would LOVE to say a strong NORTH EAST LOL, LOL but it was a Westerly at Lib but here at the home end it was more a WNW. Looking at the wind for this week end, it looks like it WILL be a North East. I still fancy the same cock, absolutely full of himself but we know are dreams can be dashed.
  2. Thanks people, As I'm sure you ALL know, it's a lovely feeling taking top spot and equally as nice watching them come home to their loft. On this occasion, all I saw was a blue flash straight into his box. My secretary worked my Velo out again to 1969yds pm but on the grapevine, I've heard of one doing 1970. I'll have to give this young cock a talking to for this week end.

    Amtrax

With actions like that PIGEON-MAN, we should all make a point of using him. Someone who seemingly cares for our birds.
  4. Hi all, Had to get this one in !! young Van Reet cock of mine doing 1967yds pm for 112mls from Portsmouth Saturday, taking the red card by 36yds pm from the second pigeon. Must of hung on to a jet.

Hi Rose, That's good news and of course it would be very helpful if we could all know. regards, T T

    Amtrax

Sent 6 birds to the Europa Classic last week. Night Speed arrived and the driver told me Amtrax had bought them out and he had never handled live stock before. I suggested that this was the time to learn. I had asked for a box over the phone but the driver didn't arrive with one so we compromised and he shot off and got one. He had no labels either so it all seems a learning curve to the new boys but glad to say my birds arrived safely.

    what if

As we've all said, in the main this sport is not attracting younger people and there are a LOT of fanciers at the age of 60 + in this game, could they afford to wait extra years without letting them out, showing, the buzz of racing.? Myself ? However long it takes, I will always have my birds. Our first race today, Bring it on.!!

    Thimbles

Many Thanks to Pigeon-Man who sorted me out with thimbles. He wouldn't take anything for thimbles or post packing either.

    Training

Have had 6 training tosses at 20ml. They shall go Su/M/T/W/Th/ of next week as we start on the 8th. No more training then all season, unless they get sluggish.

    young ens

Parted a few, nothing flying yet but a bit disappointed with how they look, being slim and sharp looking as opposed to the round and compact look I like. I have tried a breeding mixture with Dried Babies Milk added but am going back to my own mix for this round of Beans, Barley and Pellets.
  14. Hi Bruno, Had used this for a number of years until Ivermectin came out which works twofold on lice and worms. I now use that. What was left over after dipping my pigeons with Tumblebug was put into a spray gun for my flower bed. With regard to dipping at night time, one of the best fanciers I know of, told me that after EVERY race he would leave the clubhouse, come home and dip every one of his pigeons that had raced that day in a warm bucketful of water with Radox added and that would be at 8pm, 8::30pm and put them in their box. Relaxes the muscles. Different fanciers, different methods. Another mans poison ?

  16. Never have I known it around here for a hawk to take a pigeon. My friend came from work and let his birds out and after cleaning them out, he came outside the loft and saw a hawk sat on the back of a good four year old cock ripping into it. This was just four feet from his loft and never having seen this before, left him quite shaken and upset.
  17. A tip from Frans Wildermershe. IF you can still get it, a capful of TUMBLEBUG, yes !! the garden product, into a bucketfull of warm water and add to it half a dozen drops of Fairy Liquid to allow the treated water to "cling" to the feathering. Submerge your pigeons for fifteen twenty seconds ( not the head ) spreading their wings. Do this just before roosting. WON'T SEE ANOTHER MITE FOR TWO YEARS.

    Thimbles

Hi Folks, Where could I get hold of some thimbles like the ones Chatrace has on top of his clock shown on here ? I think there called " coffin " thimbles ? It's under Clock Wanted by Westy. Thanks.
  20. Tony C, As my previous post said, it will test friendships, if it hasn't already.
  21. Decided to give Garlic a go as from this morning. Chaps ever if your'e getting a bit of ear bashing from " er indoors " and fancy some peace and quiet, just peel your Garlic and put it in the egg slicer, you know, the one she uses for slicing boiled eggs, like I did this morning. SILENCE IS GOLDEN. Dee Dum, Dee Dum, Dee Dum.

    Aviary problem

Ordinary Emulsion on the underside is what I did with mine ( Magnolia ) for the Canary aviary and Tom Cat can't see the birds either. If one coat isn't enough, continue until your satisfied.
  24. Having just got off the phone to a friend of mine in Scotland, my talking point was ETS. He said it cost him £800 to set up. The pads are £90:00 each and the rings are £1:25p each. THAT is a real stumbling block for an awful lot of people. He also said there are still a lot of arguments about it and friendships being tested. I truly don't know if it would all be worth it.
  25. Please give me a call if you want a Sat weather brief. It might be a good idea if we had a few volunteers for this ?
