  1. Pfizer are only the marketing holder and have nothing to do with Colombovac PMV production and I find it rather strange that the information sheet leaflet states "was last approved in July 2011" which suggests to me that this was the date the contents were packaged. If so then my vaccine which expired on 25th January was 2.1/2 years old. From what Information gleaned from the internet La Sotta Chemicals produce the intermediates to produce Colombovac amongst others and they would be responsible in obtaining no doubt from other Chemical Companies the necessary products which would be at a stage of the processing procedure in 2 thousand gallon reaction pans {vessels} amounting to 2.2 million pigeon doses. Those companies responsible for those processes will in all probability produce enough batches to last 5 years so at a rough estimate of 3 batches per day for 1 month which would be normal, almost 200 million vaccinations would be produced and stored ready for marketing world wide. As we are hearing Colombovac wont be available till the back end of the year then that ties in with my experience in the experimental Pharmaceutical Industry as each stage of the process has to be completed before the next stage can be started. If as is normal there will be 4 stages each taking 1 month to complete and after bottling and marketing don't be surprised if its obtainable in July.

  5. I always remembered Robert telling me this piece of advice, Peter its taken 80 years to develop Scottish long distance pigeons and it will be wrecked with imports from abroad by those who believe they can put speed into them. Whatever you do, do not fall into that trap, as it will only destroy what has taken all those years to evolve. Robert made that statement in the 70s and you the reader would have to agree with his statement as we can look at it now where we struggle to get our distance birds home.

  12. Lindsay I have never ever in the past been on a railway which was devoid of telephone wires and plenty of them running parallel to the tracks and I can recall sending by rail until our local station was closed in 1964 by Dr Beeching with the last occasion we were transported by rail in 1965 when all livestock carrying ceased with the closure of the livestock market. I am sure many fanciers in Central Scotland would have saw the films as Alex Ross visited many club nights showing them. P.S. I did say earlier that rail was the best mode of transport however most if not all liberations were from the shunting yards.
  13. I do believe you must be having a laugh at this subject especially if you ever had the privilege of watching Alex Ross's black & white 8mm cine films of rail liberations from the 50s. Yes it was the best mode of transport however when the carriages were shunted into a siding and the baskets offloaded along would come another train and stop in front of the baskets after it had discharged steam into them etc even on some occasions when liberations were taking place and the lucky ones would be scrambling about under wagons in their endeavour to get air borne then when they succeeded flew straight into a multitude of telephone wires or other passing trains, carnage was the result. Their was even on film where the liberations took place from the carriages 1 basket at a time and from first to last basket would take about 20 minutes. Aye they days were marvellous "NOT".
  14. Lewis their is nothing to stop an amendment being proposed to have the Gold Cup liberated on the Friday weather permitting from the members attending the AGM which would also change the marking day.

I suppose we can assume you are not a Tory then ! Mr Cameron stated in the House of Commons to-day that he will veto the bonuses for bankers and regards Financial Institutions the bigger the bonuses they acquire the bigger and more profitable Pension Funds become which helps us pensioners. As regards Oil the Conservatives want fracking to commence where Mr Salmond and his cronies will veto it in Scotland. You cant have it both ways..
