  1. It has been hot today for the birds (and with this years sh*te weather, they're not used to being dry) Birds arriving home dehydrated today so plenty will have gone down for a drink Personally - got 8 home from 10 - last one at 6.45pm flying 317 miles 2 yearlings missing (sent 8 yearlings and 2 x 2 year olds all cocks) The winning velocities today: 1st Up North Combine Lillers- velocity 1378 (Weldon at Skelton 2nd Forbes & son Horden 1377
  2. Up North Combine pigeons from Lillers Never normally see big batches of birds going over my house from a channel race unless it's a fast one. Well it wasn't very fast today - and I'm 317 miles from Lillers - birds going over in kits of 50 plus - and after that distance as well, birds doing 1350-1380 ypm, so whether they swept NRCC back North is anyone's guess Saw very few birds racing South today, only odd ones, and I'm right on the coast - about 200 yards from the North Sea
  3. UNC Lillers Birds doing approx 1350 ypm
  4. Presumably he has a few more in the clock seeing as he sent 85
  5. Brilliant weather in Redcar
  6. Good Luck all
  7. Full cloud cover on the channel - that's why the UNC hasn't liberated http://www.ferrycheap.com/webcam.asp
  8. It is Clermont, Picardy you want
  9. Well done Pippa, thank you for caring I wouldn't be surprised if that pigeon was missing from a race which was a week last Saturday - from just outside Paris, birds have been turning up between the South West coast, and the Midlands trying to make their way home The weather was much worse than forecast (and hasn't been that much better since!!)
  10. I have Bob Lee collecting a pigeon for me from Cheltenham!! 01422 886466 or 07825 305389 Ring him straightaway! We contacted him yesterday
  11. I also got my last one back from Maidstone the same day and one missing from Lillers 1 the day before! (that one was missing over 6 weeks!) they are boxed up in isolation just now 'under observation' I personally have had nothing back from Fontenay (from 3 sent) but there were 3 more back for club members Thursday that I know of, with the decent weather undoubtedly a big help - and a few others have been reported up and down the country - that are injured. I am sure a few more will turn up over the next day or two
  12. The Up North Combine was due to start racing young birds on the 28th July - and racing for young birds has been put back a week - 1st race now August 4th
  13. They're pretty unreliable at the moment - a club member has tried to get a pigeon picked up from the South to be brought back to the North East and every courier so far has refused
  14. Personally - Once they're down to 6 flights to go, I don't send as they always seem to 'go down' (these are darkness youngsters though)
  15. Up North Combine (some federations have a different program for the first 4 races) 28/7/12 Bubwith (56 miles) 4/8/12 Bubwith 11/8/12 Worksop (89 miles) 18/8/12 Worksop 25/8/12 Melton Mowbray (130 miles) 1/9/12 Huntingdon (or Peterborough) (160 or 146 miles) 8/9/12 Rivenhall (202 miles) 15/9/12 Maidstone (young bird combine race)239 miles 22/9/12 Bubwith
  16. I am sure he will make his way home - we had all our yearling cocks home yesterday (8)but all the yearling hens were missing (3)! 2 turned in this morning though so just the one adrift Congratulations on your win on what turned out to be a testing day
