Our first loft faced North - you lost time in trapping, the loft was very cold in the winter We used it for one and a half seasons before swapping to the exact opposite side of the garden There was a big difference in racing (we were better back then!!!)

First round from 12 pairs of stock - more than six eggs smashed! One pair didn't lay (and still haven't - 10 year old hen, was hoping for a couple of youngsters) 13 youngsters rung and one pair in the race loft to ring ( another pair of youngsters were trampled) stock currently sitting 2nd round - they all laid between 20th & 22nd February (first round were floated to widowhood team) one pair of eggs were empty (though that pairs first round were full!) I've floated a pair of eggs under them. Out of the youngsters I have in the nest, I've got a big mealie pied cock, it's only about 14 days old and dwarfs it's nest mate, one full wing of white flights and every other flight white on the other wing - can't wait for it to be fully feathered!!

I don't use loft granules, but rung 9 youngsters yesterday, made a note to check 3 today - 2 have missing rings - 1 ring found in the drinker..... The other one God knows where, the nest mates of these two were much bigger and struggled to get their rings on.

Or anything that lowers the pH of the water to create an acidic environment in the gut - enviroboost, ascorbic acid (vitamin c) etc

It's used as a fungicide on plant cuttings to stop them rotting at soil level I believe some people have used it as a solution for feather rot, but don't know of anybody personally using it

NEHU 2020 rings are white (boring) and as all FCI members have to have the same colour only none FCI members will be different....
