  1. You're doing well - paired the 18th Jan and have my first egg! Maybe I'll get lucky in the next few days (another 4 there this morning - Friday)
  2. St John's Wort is an antidepressant - I don't think I'll be using that on my pigeons Mood enhancer? Could well be classed as a banned substance

  4. If you Google 'you tube legends of long distance racing pigeons' you'll get links to lots of videos
  5. If you Google bumble foot treatment it will come up with a poultice prep with Epsom salts / betadine - but you can buy magnesium sulphate paste over the counter ready made. But do Google bumblefoot or bumble foot as you will get different results, and check out the photographs to make sure it looks similar, it's the pad of the foot, not ankle
  6. Our local corn merchant has stopped selling Gem corn, but I've never used their malting barley, just use farm barley
  7. Every light I have in and outside are LED lights About 6 months ago my (relatively new) neighbour put up a security light with what must be a very strong halogen bulb (200w - 500w at a guess) My security lights are 10 watts! I don't know if he is aware how much electricity these use....the house was my mothers and every light bulb was an LED, so his security light is using a massive amount of electricity - but that in itself is not the problem - it constantly 'goes off', it's at the rear of the property - my lounge is at the rear, there's is at the front. The light goes off constantly - I'm talking every few minutes right through the night, anything and everything sets it off, including us walking out the rear door, the trains that run behind us etc - but it's not even shining in his garden - it's shining directly onto my stock loft (and the widowhood section next to it) and disturbing the birds (you can hear them) Ged said he's going to nudge it with the clothes prop He's ham fisted - I know he'll break it! Even if it is adjusted - the brightness will still bother the birds I'm sure Any ideas? Should we try darkening down the loft?
  8. The NEHU doesn't share your trust - someone comes out from the NEHU to do your GPS measurements They don't send the equipment out
  9. Stock birds were paired yesterday, we had a few new stock cocks ( bred them ourselves last year for stock) and there are two new stock hens ( former racers, both now 4 years old) They paired without any problems (touch wood) The section next to it is the widowhood section of 8 boxes, we raced widowhood cocks last year, this year we're racing widowhood hens - they were paired today. Seven of the hens were in that section last year, so there is one new addition. The largest section-for roundabout cocks and hens, will be paired later.
  10. Do you get your club books audited? My other half was surprised to find at a recent fed meeting that we were the only club who had their books audited. Even the fed doesn't which I find extraordinary as some weeks there is a send of 2500-3000 birds. Does your club or fed have their books audited?
  11. Ridiculous prices! Glad I stayed at home
  12. Did anybody buy the tic eyed pied hen in the last photo?
  13. Took this off a 10 year old post: Grit, crushed pickstone, clay block, minerals n a small amount of condition seeds mixed together. As greenlands post - aniseed on the condition seed only before mixing together Original post from Brian Wall - Beyers grit used in Matrix (I knew it was somewhere!) Feb 7th 2008 http://forum.pigeonbasics.com/topic/16773-the-matrix/page__st__20
  14. Duggen I think, but I can't find the pedigrees
  15. Ged had the UNIKON one on his - and that is OK (just checked as I forgot about it) Can you do a back up on a disc or anything? We have ours on another laptop anyway (club laptop) that was upgraded to Windows 10 a couple of years ago
  16. Thanks George x
  17. Excel and Word both work OK Outlook does not - but the Microsoft office I have on there is 2002 version! I do have 2016 on my OWN computer which is newer - but that doesn't work 'great' (ebay...! say no more!) You get the choice to retain apps and files towards the end
  18. Anybody got a link as I can't find it
  19. There are no longer any updates for Windows 7 - totally finished on 14th January - advice is to buy a new computer or purchase Windows 10 I was able to update my other half's laptop for free on 15th January - but evidently that will stop VERY SHORTLY You can update Windows 7 to Windows 10 by going to the Microsoft website Make a note of your Windows 7 Activation Key number incase you need it (write it on a piece of paper) https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 Click 'Download Tool now' - this downloads the Windows 10 Media Creation Tool. When finished, open the download and accept the license terms Choose: 'Upgrade this PC now' then click ‘Next’ Choose ‘Keep personal files and apps’ Click ‘Install’ (note this takes some time and involves multiple restarts) Once installed, open: Settings > Windows Update > Activation to activate your Windows 10 digital license... OR enter your (genuine) Windows 7 or Windows 8/8.1 product key if you haven’t previously activated your old version of Windows If you’d like to check your licence has successfully been activated afterwards, open: Settings > Update & Security > Activation. Note: a Windows 10 licence is tied to your hardware. As such, if you need to format your computer for any reason Windows 10 will reactivate automatically. Good Luck It took about 4 hours for me to do an upgrade over Wifi - it may be quicker on a wired computer (and I only get 10MB per sec as well - a bit slow!)
  20. Andy - I bought a pair of Lambrechts a couple of years ago - couldn't afford the ones at the auction sales - they were going for several hundreds Anyway - was looking for a bit of colour, bought a mealie hen and a dark cock (paid £80 & £100 respectively I think) First year breeding got a mealie cock, blue hen and dark hen 2nd year a red cock Mealie cock was 1st Club Burbure as a yearling and I think the blue hen did OK as well - the dark hen was a widowhood hen last year 2nd year - only one youngster, and two lots of broken eggs I still have all the youngsters (now a yearling and 3 x 2 year olds) It was a stand upstairs in the room they have the pigeon show If I was going to Blackpool - I'd just go to that stand and buy another pair
  21. Welcome back! Not going to Blackpool personally, spent very little at the NEHU show in November so saving me money! How's the house Andy?
  22. Photos added
  23. These have moulted after the race season has finished, it's the last 3-5 flights, old birds
  24. I once got a highly commended at the NEHU show over 10 years ago, which was more luck than management, a young bird that hadn't fully moulted - and once had a win at a local show, but otherwise - not had much luck. Whether racing or showing, what causes fret marks on the flights? Can't think of anything the birds have missed out on or suffered from, yet a few have fret marks - why?
  25. Haven't paired up but only breeding about 20-24 young birds as have too many old birds also, have never bred 60,as I don't have the room!
